Getting difficult.

Yeah it would be HC to Nova.WrenFGun wrote:Is Holy Cross a bus-trip to 'Nova? I have to think HC would go there if that was the case, unless Elon is also a bus-trip...
If that's the case, GO HOLY CROSS. ANYTHING TO NOT PLAY UNI.
Anything under 400 miles is a bus trip, as per NCAA guidelines. Not sure exactly how that is calculated, but I'm going to post the milages that mapquest spits on by default (which is "shortest time").WrenFGun wrote:Is Holy Cross a bus-trip to 'Nova? i've got elon to nova to be 350 miles, which would be a bus trip as well.JayJ79 wrote:Anything under 400 miles is a bus trip, as per NCAA guidelines. Holy Cross (Worcester, MA) to Villanova (Radnor Township, PA): 280 miles (bus trip)
Elon (Elon, NC) to Holy Cross (Worcester, MA): 707 miles (not a bus trip)
And just to complete the triangle:
Elon to Villanova: 442 miles (not a bus trip)
hmm, even if I recalculate using "shortest distance", I still get 411 miles.danefan wrote:i've got elon to nova to be 350 miles, which would be a bus trip as well.
You're right. For some reason when I type it into google maps it gives me a 354 mile trip initially but then adjusts itself to 434. Odd.JayJ79 wrote:hmm, even if I recalculate using "shortest distance", I still get 411 miles.danefan wrote:i've got elon to nova to be 350 miles, which would be a bus trip as well.
Mapquest
Might be 354 miles in straightline distance between the two.danefan wrote:You're right. For some reason when I type it into google maps it gives me a 354 mile trip initially but then adjusts itself to 434. Odd.
Anyway = Elon to Nova is not a bus trip.
What an odd thing to have.JayJ79 wrote:Might be 354 miles in straightline distance between the two.danefan wrote:You're right. For some reason when I type it into google maps it gives me a 354 mile trip initially but then adjusts itself to 434. Odd.

And evidently the "walking" option in google maps logs the route as being 397 miles. but I don't think the football team will be walking the trip.![]()
But that does make me wonder as to just how the NCAA figures milage.
UPDATE: Turns out that the NCAA has their own Mileage Calculation page. And their official mileage between Elon and Nova is 432 miles.
Not really. It's a table used to figure out the reimbursement amount for travel.danefan wrote:What an odd thing to have.
That actually brings up a good point on these brackets, because if App gets a seed, SCSU is going to App. They are only 225 miles from App and when the seeds are determined the closest to the seeds goes to the seed.slycat wrote:SCSU will host unless they blow their last few games.
That would be a huge game. SCSU is looking stronger then ever. It would be the best first round match up.danefan wrote:That actually brings up a good point on these brackets, because if App gets a seed, SCSU is going to App. They are only 225 miles from App and when the seeds are determined the closest to the seeds goes to the seed.slycat wrote:SCSU will host unless they blow their last few games.

Weber also lost at home to Montana State.sas123abc wrote:Why should Eastern Washington get in ahead of Weber State? Weber went to Eastern Washington and beat them badly.
as much as I want a home play-off game at SCSU I would have no problem going up to boone again...Our gus are playing really motivated after giving app st. a good game last year..we have a garbage conference I do agree! but we are clicking on all cylinders right now and the goal this season has been since week 1 playoffs..I think we would give App a heck of a game or anybody else for that matter and hopefully we can gain some credibility not as a MEAC team but a legit FCS playoff team year in and out...slycat wrote:That would be a huge game. Weber also went to Montana and shit a brick, and earlier in the year pissed the bed at home against MSU. EWU held their turf against the Bobcats, and gave the Griz a battle in Missoula.sas123abc wrote:Why should Eastern Washington get in ahead of Weber State? Looks like UNI has a cupcake in the first and second round.AZGrizFan wrote:So, Richmond, UNH and UNI get the cupcakes this year, huh?
