If you lived where I do, you'd know that it actually is. My county has made a conscious choice to try to make urban centers around the Metro with high density housing and very little parking. However, the stores, shops and restaurants are mostly located in these same areas and a vast majority of my county is suburbs, meaning you have to drive into these high density areas with very little paking and incredible conjestion. It's making for great places to live, but horrible places to visit. Nothing like having to park in a parking garage to run into a "convenience" store.
