With the season right around the corner, I decided it was time to start the conference by conference breakdowns.
X Southern Illinois 9-2 7-1 – Only slipping up once in conference and owning a win over UNI, SIU earns the MVFC auto-bid.
Y Northern Iowa 9-2 7-1 – Northern Iowa returns to the playoffs with an at-large bid.
Y Illinois State 9-2 6-2 – Illinois State makes their return to the playoffs with at at-large bid.
Z North Dakota State 7-4 5-3 – NDSU is a bubble candidate for their first playoff appearance.
South Dakota State 6-5 5-3 – The Jacks fall a little short this year.
Youngstown State 6-5 4-4 – The Penguins are rebuilding, just a year away from contention.
Indiana State 3-8 1-7 – The Sycamores take a step in the right direction.
Western Illinois 2-9 1-7 – Bad situations in Macomb carry over to 2010. Maybe the healing can begin.
Missouri State 1-10 1-7 – Terry Allen says his goodbyes and cleans out his office.
This is the year that NDSU chases Bohl out of Fargo. Watch the Bison continue their sub-.500 way.
Jacks will likely be 7-4, 6-2 in MVFC, and on the bubble for the play-offs. If Jacks upset DEL in Newark,DE to open their season, WATCH OUT.
Mo St. needs to be the SHOW-ME team. So far they have not for the two seasons vs the Jacks.
UNI will they reload? or is this a rebuild year? Based on my reading, IMHO this will be a rebuilding Panther team, who, like last year misses the play-off, primarily due to losses in conference.
SIU has the schedule, lots of returners, and a solid running back to replace their water-bug back. Look for them to have a seed team season. even U of Ill better be ready with their A game for the Salukis.
YSU will be a year away. New everything. Tough game in Nov. but through Oct. still gelling as a team.
IL St. is that 1 year ahead of YSU. This is their season to shine. Look for the ‘Birds to make the play-offs. 8-3, 6-2 (losses to SDSU/SIU)
WIU and IND St. keep the cellar. Ind St. should be getting close fo a breakthrough
How’s that working out for you crazy rabbit!!!
