Re: Athlon Preseason Poll
JMU as a preseason top-10 is not a stretch by any means. I expect them to finish in the top-5 after the Griz knock off EWU and the kittens...

Texas State is still technically in the Southland, though ineligible for the conference crown, IIRC.

Are the directional Alabama schools indies this year? I also thought Georgia St and UTSA were indies as well.

The Temple sideline looks like they're about ready to roll over. Villanova looks like the same team as last December. Temple has taken a step back in the last 9 months.

Returning Starters
How many returning starters (offense/defense) for your team?
I'm especially interested in the following schools:
S. Carolina St.
New Hampshire
E. Washington
Prairie View
Montana St.
Weber St.
Texas St.
C. Arkansas
Any links to a Spring Prospectus would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Stop Holding Your Breath...It's Here!!!!
So, I don't see any mention of the coin flip to determine which CAA team gets to win the national championship this year. Did they do it yet? It's already been done but they used a Montana quarter (by mistake) and it came up tails so there is some confusion as to whether this means that the Griz wi...

Re: Nominate your team's best Payton Candidate
If by "finalist" you mean one of the top three vote getters than I think Sam Houston had a qb or two who made the final three. There have been multiple transfers on the overall final watch list. Oh, what short memories we have. BYU transfer Drew Miller of the Montana Grizzlies came in sec...

Re: Nominate your team's best Payton Candidate
Has a transfer player ever been a finalist for the Payton? Maybe it's an unwritten rule. ..And one that makes sense to me. :coffee: If by "finalist" you mean one of the top three vote getters than I think Sam Houston had a qb or two who made the final three. There have been multiple trans...

Re: Montana wants FBS opponents, but...
It's not that hard to estimate UM's ticket revenue. In a year with 6 homes games, including Homecoming and the Bobcat game, this would be the rough calculation. Approx. 20,000 revenue tickets times $30 times 4 games equals $2.4 million. 20,000 revenue tickets times $50 times 2 games equals $2 milli...

Re: How Many Would Montana Win in the CAA in 2010
With any bit of luck the Griz would go undefeated! One of the good teams (JMU, Villanova, Richmond or W&M) would be left off the schedule entirely. Two or three of the good teams would have to travel to Wa-Griz so that would leave potentially only one tough away game. If that game was played lat...

ASU in the next few years will likely look for an area for more premium seating, potentially in the north endzone and was hoping to see how Montana did theirs (if they had any). Do this (just the bottom rows x2 or x3 or whatever Appy needs): http://www.odu.edu/ao/ia/yearinreview/images/giving-loges...

Some FAs get signing bonuses. IIRC Griz safety Anderson got multi-thousand $ signing bonus as a FA with the Vikes. Griz players Harris & Hilliard were in camps all summer before making practice squads so I'm sure they were getting paid something just to have a place to live and something to eat.

Thanks for the post Jalmond. That's a good, detailed write up on the state of the Vikes. A new coach/system and 7 (did I read that right?) road games looks like the making of another long year at PSU. I'm looking forward to seeing that goofy offensive scheme in action though and I hope this is the s...

Re: THE GRIZ REIGN IS OFFICIALLY OVER!
I think we all know who beat the Eags in Missoula last fall! Remeber the refs made numerous bogus calls that helped the Griz win. These calls were so bad that Big Sky Commissioner, Doug Fullerton, issued a statement of reprimand to the officials. I stayed late enough after the game and watched the ...

Re: Downside to our win??
There is no downside for App St. The FBS teams under contract aren't going to duck out, FCS teams would love to play in Boone and future unscheduled games won't be more difficult either. The great publicity for the school will help with fundraising and recruiting. FBS teams want a decent Div I oppon...
