Re: Citadel OL Suspended
Yep. I'll be at their next game vs Charleston Southern. We'll see if they've learned their lesson, or if they again go blatantly after people's knees. I, too, suspect that they will get far fewer big games vs teams like FSU or USC. Maybe Citadel's AD needs to reconsider the coach and style he broug...

Re: VMI, ETSU and Mercer on their way to the SoCon
Both may have FBS aspirations but neither has a conference that is going to add them anytime in the near future. The only conference that Jax St has any chance of joining is the Sun Belt and there is no way they are going to add a 3rd school in Alabama. Liberty has even less of a chance than Jax St...

Re: VMI, ETSU and Mercer on their way to the SoCon
Jacksonville State would be at the head of my list. They should have been added ahead of Samford last time around. If getting into VA is that important I would have looked at Liberty well before VMI. FWIW I would have approached some of the VA DII and DIII schools before I would have approached VMI...

Re: VMI, ETSU and Mercer on their way to the SoCon
I haven't suggested anybody, but if I were to make a suggestion the three schools being added would be well down the list. Sad thing is Mercer is probably the best of the three and they have years of work to do before they are anywhere close to being SoCon worthy in football. VMI was a doormat when...

Re: VMI, ETSU and Mercer on their way to the SoCon
The slow descent of the SoCon just got accelerated into overdrive. You lose two long time football powers and replace them with VMI and two start-ups? Ok, and you are suggesting CCU and who else? CCU would have been the #5 team in the SoCon in football this year, by the way. Sent from the center of...

Re: Indiana State turns down Sun Belt offer - per ISU AD
The MAC/Sun Belt/WAC/C-USA aren't exactly "relevant." They have no shot at a title, and they get very little TV coverage, if any. You are very misinformed. The 2012 season television schedule by conference: The MAC : 12 national broadcasts, 19 regional broadcasts http://mattsarzsports.com...

Re: Week 1 (2011) - Conference by Conference Breakdown
An interesting thing to note is the difference in scheduling shown by the conferences. Look at the level of difficulty the Big Sky schedules compared to everyone else... Nearly everyone in the Big Sky went in tough (NoCo and Portland State excluded), while the rest of the conferences listed only ha...

Re: Western Carolina future $$$ games
I'm hoping towards the end of this decade, games with Clemson and South Carolina come about. WCU hasn't played the Tigers since 95 and the chickens since 89. Unless it is a last minute deal I don't see it happening. Both Clemson and South Carolina will play a FCS game every year for the foreseeable...

Re: The Charlotte 'Disturber' on UNCC Football - CAA, Anyone
My guess is the SoCon said no because we don't want or need an associate member for just football, particularly one that sees us as nothing more than a stepping stone and will leave within the next decade. That and the fact that they are a large public school and Lord knows the SoCon wants nothing ...

-15,810 (home BCS vs Clemson) No idea where that came from, Clemson has never played Temple in Philly. They were supposed to play @ Temple in 2006, but Temple sold the game to Raycom Sports and it was played as a Temple "home" game in Charlotte and the attendance was far better than 15k.

Great. UMASS goes from a shot at a REAL National Championship to a shot at three crap bowls that will cost them $$ in the long run. :ohno: Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl GoDaddy.com Bowl Humanitarian Bowl Say what you want about the bowls being "crap", but the MAC bowl with the least attendan...

Re: UMASS goes to the MAC...
I didn't say they NEVER played each other. So which is it? BCS programs have shown a patern of NOT playing (or not wanting to play till forced to) non-BCS FBS programs in their "local" recruiting zones. While ECU doesn't typically compete with VT and/or South Carolina for their top tier r...

Re: UMASS goes to the MAC...
BCS programs have shown a patern of NOT playing (or not wanting to play till forced to) non-BCS FBS programs in their "local" recruiting zones. South Carolina has played East Carolina 15 times going back to 1977. Virginia Tech has played East Carolina 16 times going back to 1956 (with mos...

Re: NDSU fans fundrasing to hang D2 title banners
If you were around during the transition you would know that a nice majority of Bison fans spent those 5 years ripping apart D2 for its low quality of play, etc. They pointed out constantly how much better D1-AA was and how glad they are to not be associated with that “lower-level” football anymore...

Re: Money games
Chuck South has played 5 money games in the last 3 seasons. Hawaii in 2007, U.Miami/Miami(Ohio) in 2008, Florida/S. Florida in 2009 and we have Hawaii/Kentucky on the schedule for 2010. Any idea why CSU hasn't made it was on Clemson and/or South Carolina's might as well be mandated FCS rotation yet...

Hawaii went to the Sugar Bowl and got raped by Georgia. :coffee: Oh yeah..forgot about Hawaii. Probably because I turned the channel early on in that laugher. would La Tech and NMSt only leave the WAC for ConfUSA? Both probably would. La Tech wouldn't let CUSA take a breath after asking before they...

Re: Conference membership to be required for FBS moveup...
What I don't get is that the WAC has had 3 BCS games and CUSA 0, but CUSA is seen as better. La Tech and NM St. would leave for CUSA if offered. N.Texas that turned down the WAC would jump at the CUSA. It's actually Boise 3 BCS bowls - CUSA 0. Outside of Boise the rest of the WAC hasn't been that i...

Re: Conference membership to be required for FBS moveup...
It's almost certain that the B10 will expand to 12, small chance of it going to 14. I don't see anyone ever going to 14. MAC needs to lose a team. Five years ago, before the invention of the Big Ten network, I would agree 100%. With the added revenue from expanding the network footprint I'm not so ...

catdad, I see your points but in the pecking order Sbelt is still at the bottom for now. Example WKU being looked at as a full member of the MAC, if asked they'd probably join. Also I think you're right about the La & Ark St. turning the WAC down, maybe a small chance if only Boise St. left, le...

Re: Conference membership to be required for FBS moveup...
I don't see any scenario where either of the Sun Belt's UL schools join the WAC. Even back in it's heyday of the 80's the WAC was a forgotten conference because so many of their games were still going on when the press deadlines passed. They'd be better served staying in the Sun Belt than joining th...
