Re: FCS Sightings

Oops!!! My previous post had Villanova (FCS current NC) listed among those schools I said are in the Commonwealth....In the case of the Wildcats I am not too off....they are in the Commonwealth alright... The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania!

Re: FCS Sightings

I work in a public high school in northern Va and I have seen numerous FCS gear being worn by students, and some faculty and staff... schools cited....Barney (JMU), Wm&Mary, Villanova, VMI, Libery, ODU. These are no surprise since they are schools here in the Commonwealth. I've seen one New Hamp...

While I do agree with getting rid of breast cancer, it is interesting that very little is done to make people aware of the prostate and colon cancers. I am a survivor of colon cancer (2007-2008). If it wasn't for the colonoscopy that I had in Jul of 07....I would probably be DEAD! After surg...

Re: Hofstra Resurrection?

Football "resurrections" do happen...sometimes. Back in the 1980s Villanova dropped football. I believe it was right after a stadium or playing surface upgrade! A few years later VU returned the sport. :thumb: We all know that last year (20009) the Wildcats won the National Championship! :...

Re: how serious is your rivalry?

Over the past five or six years Richmond's biggest rival (I believe) has been JMU. An oddity of this series is over the past four or five meeting the VISITING team has been the winner! :o Among older UR grads the biggest rivalry is William & Mary. In fact, the UR/  W&M series is one of ...

Re: Mike London's Richmond "stuff"

Some may think such questions as these are "silly". However I do believe I ask valid questions. I doubt that London would wear any UR gear around the UVA campus. I would be surprised if his new employer would look kindly on him wearing a NC Championship ring from a FCS school (Richmond) on...

Mike London's Richmond "stuff"

Just wondering? Now the ML is the HC of a FBS/ACC school (UVA) I wonder if he discarded (sold, pawned, threw away) his Richmond stuff? Did he "hock" his NC ring? Did he discard his UR degree(I hope not!) It would be interesting to know. :? Does he totally disassociate himself from UR and t...

Re: DO YOU SECRETLY LIKE AN FCS TEAM OTHER THAN YOU OWN?

I like to see the Virginia Military Institute be winners.....which it hasn't been since 1981. :( :( I told a VMI grad not too long ago I would like the Keydets to go 10-1....the "1" being to my Richmond Spiders! However, the Keydets have an opportunity to go 11-0 this year because they are...

Re: Richmond 2010 Schedule

I also think realistically, we're looking at 6-5 record. The games against Elon (first game ever there), Delaware, and JMU should be sellouts! Since the capacity is 8700 the other contests may be pretty well attended. Hopefully the location of the stadium being on campus will boost attendance by the...

I would care less how he looks! As long as he is a good student and an excellent QB is what matters to most Spider fans! .....Yes there are Spider fans out there! Maybe not as many as the huge state schools where freshmen enter an auditorium to take a required course along with 300 to 500 other fres...

Re: USC backup (Aaron Corp) transfer to Richmond

This is very exciting news, if it takes place! UR very seldom gets any players from Calif! I recall back in 1980 UR got a QB transfer from the state of Calif named Steve Krainock. This was during Dal Shealy's first year as UR head coach. :ugeek: :thumb:

Re: Question about FCS Schedules

As for the University of Richmond, the major reason for them scheduling a FBS school is for the money. I do not see scheduling a FBS school as a means of getting tougher for the playoffs. Next year UR opens its on campus stadium which will have a capacity of 8700. I wish the capacity was in the 10,0...

Did not Villanova go through the same thing? I recall around 1980 VU dropped football to the dismay and anger of many Villanova alums and fans! A restoral effort was started, including a fund raising effort (I believe it was Bob Hope). The program was indeed restored and VU has one of the premier FC...

Re: Richmond needs a smaller stadium

Robins Stadium (that's the name of the on campus stadium) will seat 8700. I know that a number of folks "sneer" at that capacity. However there are a couple of reasons for an 8700 stadium instead of a 12000 to 15000 facility. Richmond is a small private university of around 2800 undergradu...

Re: London Offered UVA job, likely to accept

First of all, it is disappointing that Richmond did not go further in the playoffs. They ran into the best player in the FCS and a very good team (ASU). I hope that Richmond will cherish its 2008 NCAA Championship Trophy becaue I fear that we are going to see an extended "dark age" for UR ...

I would love to see any team that plays Richmond lose!
