Re: CAA Schedule released by league

So far, it looks like Georgia State will indeed just inherit UMass's conference schedule. Richmond, ODU and URI's games with GSU are home/away flips with last season's UMass games. UMass didn't play Towson last season, and neither will GSU, which makes sense if they're just going to flip home/away g...

Re: Official Change of Allegiance

I guess I'll take this opportunity to declare my Casual FCS Fandom in favor of Maine. I would have declared it for my old Rhode Island home, but URI decided to give up on life, and I must honor their decision. The Dirty Cubs of Maine are therefore the only acceptable option remaining, at least until...

Re: How many CAA teams will survive next week?

I voted 2, but I have no idea which 2. Four long-distance road games against five teams ranked #2 to #8 is a tough draw to overcome, especially with all 5 opponents coming off playoff experience last year while only 1 of the 5 CAA teams has been in the playoffs since 2008. I'd consider it an impress...

Wow, Albany intercepted on 2nd & goal from the 3 down by 3 with less than a minute on the clock. Anybody see the video of what happened? Bad throw? Tipped ball?

Re: UMass Fires HC

Have fun playing all the Ohio schools ('cept Ohio State) with your new coach. I'm sure the fans are stoked about Miami Ohio, Ohio, Toledo, Bowling Green, and any others I missed. Why do people make sarcastic posts like this thinking UMass fans are bummed out to be playing every team in Ohio except ...

Re: Does anyone believe JMU is better than Delaware?

The committee should give at large bids to the 10 most best teams available, ruling a team out because they played a D-II is dumb. Sometimes you have to schedule a D-II just to fill out an 11 game schedule. Yes, sometimes you have to schedule a DII just to fill out an 11 game schedule... if you are...

3 interceptions and 3 fumbles from the backup freshman QB, if you're wondering how that result happened.

Re: Colonial Athletic Association Picks for Week #10

I don't know who did it. It was after Corp went out injured. We all thought Pagel was pulled because we were up by 3 TDs, not because he was hurt.

Pagel is the son of the ex Browns QB.

Re: Colonial Athletic Association Picks for Week #10

ESPN has St. Francis (PA) playing both Monmouth and Georgia State this Saturday. I think that improves Georgia State's chances of picking up a win.

Re: Colonial Athletic Association Picks for Week #10

I don't know what happened with UMass @ UR. Not surprised UMass won, but I thought Corp would have a field day passing against that UMass secondary that is DEAD LAST in the CAA in pass defense. On TV I watched Holy Cross have a good passing day vs UMass, and URI and ODU light up the UMass secondary...

We may have created a monster when we injured Demarco. Don't do that and maybe we win that game and are out of the CAA before the butterflies turn into mothra.

Re: 10/29 Score Thread

It might be a good game to watch, but the ODU camera operator likes 'Zoom' so you only see half of the game. If I'm lying ... I'm dying. The entire last series for ODU the camera view was zoomed to the QB in the shotgun with a single RB -- that's it! Never pay for the ODU stream, It's like t...

Re: Standards for AQ's?

I'd suggest that if a league doesn't play to a "competitive standard" than their AQ should be taken back until their level of play reaches a certain level. How many years in a row does a league need to go "one and done" before the standard of play in that league is questioned? T...

Re: ODU president: FCS playoffs may expand by 2013

I think some of these auto-bid's for partial-scholly conferences is pretty stupid. Just because they have the FCS label doesn't mean they can compete in the FCS. Some of these conferences would struggle against the likes of Grand Valley State of D2 or Mount Union of D3. When the biggest selling poi...

Re: Colonial Athletic Association Picks for Week #8

I don't know why the CAA had to do the 0-0 goofiness that confuses everyone. Just make us ineligible for the AQ, like Fordham in the PL or the Dakota States when they moved up from DII. This UMass team isn't much different from the last 3 UMass teams that all finished around .500, and probably isn't...

Re: Colonial Athletic Association Picks for Week #8

Easy picks: Delaware over URI ODU over Nova USA over G-State Hard picks: Richmond upsets Maine - Maine is solid but anyone can hang with them, and Richmond is home, desperate, and had an extra week to prepare. UNH over UMass - the win over Delaware provided hope, but UNH's passing offense vs. UMass'...

If Towson and ODU get into the Playoffs...

If Towson and Old Dominion get to the FCS Playoffs, every single remaining CAA team will have made the playoffs at least once in the last 4 years. Last Playoff Appearance (departing/departed teams in parens) 2010: Delaware, New Hampshire, Villanova and William & Mary 2009: Richmond 2008: Maine a...

This is why you have to love FCS. The CAA is in somewhat disarray, but you have to know someone will step up and make it far in the playoffs. We can't really tell who is good and who is bad across the nation until the playoffs. Thank goodness for playoffs. I'm definitely curious to see how the even...

Re: UMass @ Delaware

21-10, Final. I don't know what to say. After the first 3 UMass drives and the 1 long Delaware drive, this was a pretty poorly played game. Poorly officiated too. And poorly broadcast. They spent about the first 15 minutes not realizing they were on air. And how about that big news the play-by-play ...

Delaware's QB is not what I expected. He seems really easy to pressure.

Still time for us to blow this given our penchant for leaving receivers uncovered deep.

Still 21-10 at the end of the 3rd.
Both teams spent the last 15 minutes trying to out-stupid each other, with no clear loser.

Is it UMass who has the wind at their backs in the 4th? Left endzone is the good endzone?
