Re: North Alabama approves a move to D-I
If I was the Big South, I'd jump all over this. No question the profile of the conference improves with UNA added. It's all about following, and that school has a following. Not to mention Terry Bowden as a coach :) I think any member of the Big South would welcome this with open arms. I could see ...

Re: Big South WRs 2011
My apologies if it came out rather abrasive it's been a long day haha but yes, I see it coming down to LU, SBU and CCU every year until at least one of us switches conferences Not abrasive at all, and some legit points. However, for the names of some of the prolific college players who would indeed...

Re: Waiting for the first 49ers freshmen
Now I would think that they wanted to get the "easy marks" (at least in their view) from each conference (save GaSou) which would explain why there is no sign of App State, or Wofford or Liberty or Stony Brook or Chattanooga...yeah...real nervous I think They're probably just afraid of [s...

Re: Big South WRs 2011
I have to agree. SBU and Liberty to determine to the Conference's representative in the play offs. Hopefully no more 3 way ties, point spreads etc, etc. this year. That was weird last season. Good Luck to all ! I feel that it is only a matter of time before Liberty starts running away with the BS C...

Re: Big South QBs 2011
Can't confirm if he'll continue to play QB (there was talk of moving him to CB), but Jevahn Cruz (R-FR) at Stony Brook is remarkably talented. He won the Hansen Trophy (top player in Suffolk County, previous winners = Gowins, Maysonet, Jackolski) in 2009, and is a downright remarkable dual threat. S...

Re: CAA Meetings - Who Stays, Who Goes......
20 years? :| To FBS? Yeah. Our stadium isn't complete, and given how much of a fight we're having just to use money we were already allocated by NYS to rebuild our basketball arena, I can't imagine how long it would take to expand LaValle to a large enough size to qualify. It's also pointless at th...

Re: CAA Meetings - Who Stays, Who Goes......
On a second note - absolutely no chance Liberty ends up in the CAA. It's not about facilities or commitment to sport...it's about perception of the school and about academic standing. It's just not there yet in pedigree, and would need a media makeover (especially in the Northeast, where we jumped a...

Re: CAA Meetings - Who Stays, Who Goes......
Stony Brook got mentioned a few times in alignment positioning. Figured I'd give my two cents for whoever cares. We are full scholly btw, so none of this prelim adjustment talk about us going to the next level: 1. SBU's AD and administration has publicly stated FBS ambition, or at the very least amb...

Re: Preseason All-America
Seems pretty hard to believe that any Stony Brook RB - Gowins, Jackolski, or Maysonet - wouldn't get AA honors somewhere. The numbers Jackolski and Maysonet put up last season were phenomenal, and should be even better behind a tougher O-line. I had 1 of them on the 3rd or 4th team. both are in my ...

Re: Brand new SoCon 2013
Big South will have major problems going forward it seems. Liberty has made little attempt to hide its ambition for greener pastures (although it's clear groups have major problems scheduling them for multiple reasons), and Stony Brook's not likely to become a fixture. We've made it clear that this ...

Re: FBS games for 2011
SBU playing UTEP and Buffalo. Both are realistic games, especially since we return such a large percentage of our roster. I'd say at best we split, most likely the win would come against Buffalo.

Re: StonyBrook 2011 Schedule Released
NOT happy with the non-D1. What was the problem here? We never used to schedule like this....
Loving UTEP and Buffalo though. I sincerely believe we have a chance to take one of them, and make a decent showing in the other.

And on the refs - I just want a clean game. It doesn't help winner or loser if the refs can't call well. Someone gets hurt if you give too much freedom to hits and players.

Stony Brook @ Liberty
Refs should be taken out back and shot after the game. So many blown calls not even the Liberty radio announcers can defend them. So far we've had an ignored DPI in the redzone by Liberty, an interception called on a ball knocked loose from a player already on the ground. Multiple blatant offensive ...

Re: SB vs. Liberty
Here's what I want to see... A 5OT thriller between Lib/SB that forces both teams to score in excess of 50-60 pts. All the while we hold Charleston Southern to a bare minimum of points scored. If that happens.....then i can see with confidence that god wants Coastal Carolina to be the FCS...

Re: SB vs. Liberty
The autobid will not be Liberty's on the tiebreaker. They have to win the game and CSU has to lose. I think you meant CCU. If Charleston Southern defeats Coastal Carolina and Liberty wins the matchup against Stony Brook, then Liberty receives the AQ. Stony Brook controls their destiny. Thank you fo...

Re: SB vs. Liberty
@clenz Clearly your quote makes total sense, since SBU was a tipped INT away from defeating U Mass (we led in the 4th quarter), and U Mass gave up 200+ rushing yards on fewer than 30 attempts (that, for you math buffs our there, is 6+ yards a carry). Compare that to ~185 yards on 49 attempts for U ...

Re: SB vs. Liberty
Home field, with a crowd on hand that WANTS to be there. Atmosphere will be intense, but not as loud as normal. LU plays hard and spreads the offense out with Chris Summers on the bench. Tyler Brennan throws for 180 yards and 2 TD's, both to Mike Brown, and Mike rushes for 100 yards, throws for 100...

I still don't get why a school from New York is in the Big South? Congrats CCU! Hopefully we can beat (probably will) CSU. It was about getting to a full scholly conference. With the exception of the CAA (where a bid would have been unlikely to impossible...mostly impossible), there are no full sch...

That sounds confusing...I say The Brook just takes it outright :D Great playing by Coastal - This is certainly a great sign that the Big South has become a three horse battle.
