Re: 2020 Democratic Nomination Process Mega-thread

Just as a reminder, though you can find plenty of other sources that will tell you the same thing: https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-trump-debate-win-hillary-1447108 n fact, major post-debate polls following the candidates' three debates from September to October showed that respondents believed C...

Re: 2020 Democratic Nomination Process Mega-thread

People continue to act like Trump is all that. He's not. He lost all three of the debates to Clinton both in terms of substance and in terms of the perceptions of the people who watched the debates. More people thought Clinton won than thought Trump won each time. And on election day, again: He got ...

Dang I looked at the forecast and that's incredible. Temperature will be in the 60s. I can't ever remember it being like that when a Southland team went up there in the playoffs. I guess climate change is real.

Re: 2020 Democratic Nomination Process Mega-thread

I do think it's a shame that Harris is out in that if she'd have gotten into a one on one with Trump I think she'd have kicked his ass. But it is what it is. Anybody they nominate is going to have a reasonable shot.

Re: Trump Tariffs = Tax Hike on all

They can wait out the United States regardless of who gets elected, Democrat or Republican. It's the nature of their system vs. the nature of our system. You're not going to beat them by trying do do what Trump is trying to do. Also, the match is a mismatch. The Chinese are WAY smarter than Trump. ...

Re: 2R - Illinois St. @ #8 Central Arkansas

I'd pick Illinois State. I think Central Arkansas is over rated. I think they are the third best team from the Southland yet somehow they got seeded while the two Southland teams that are better than they are did not.

Re: 2R - SE Louisiana @ #6 Montana

I think Southeastern Louisiana is very athletic. But the history of Southland teams playing at Montana during winter makes it very tough to think this is going to be close. I can remember McNeese losing at Montana in the second round by 2 points on a last minute field goal in 1994. But after that al...

Re: 2R - Nicholls @ #1 NDSU

Strangely, I have this feeling Nicholls State has a chance because of the type of team Nicholls State is. When Sam Houston State's played North Dakota State in the playoffs I've never thought they had much of a chance. I have a different feeling about Nicholls State. Obviously I favor North Dakota S...

How many new adventures have we begun under Trump again? Maybe I missed one The most recent "new adventures" were associated with the events of 9/11/2001. Trump hasn't had to deal with anything like that. However, I think he is risking a "new adventure" by virtue of the way in w...

Re: I-AA Game of the Week - ROUND OF 16

Obviously I'm in Southland Land but I think the Nicholls State at North Dakota State thing is interesting. Nicholls State as a program has sometimes been a bug in the ointment for big time programs. Like playing wire to wire and seriously threatening to beat Georgia in 2016. Obviously I wouldn't be ...

I can't document it but I think some of the people who say they don't want the Democrats to impeach him, including some of the people in swing states, say that because they don't want him to be President again. They think the Democrats could hurt their chances of getting rid of him if they impeach ...

Why would you ever assume that?   It was a bullshit call at a horrible time. No WAY a ref should ever make that call, but especially not in that scenario. Well, the last part of that sentence is something I've always disagreed with. I've never liked the idea that the call if impacte...

Re: 1R - Villanova @ SE Louisiana

I'd seen the video at the NCAA site and noted that one of the guys calling the game thought it was offensive pass interference almost immediately. The Twitter video shows he kind of changed his mind some after seeing the replay in slow motion. I figure it must've looked like a foul to the official i...

This country has never been healthier. But I’d love to hear what these horrible issues are that are so bad that the left is willing to discard a system that’s worked for 250+ years for one that’s been tried and failed dozens of times across the globe in the past 120 years. I think the statement &qu...

Executive Power and Immunity

Maybe some of you lawyer types can comment on this. This morning I've been reading Articles I and II of the Constitution along with a back and forth about the question of a sitting president being criminally liable between Phillip Bobbitt and Lawrence Tribe. I am absolutely horrified by the position...

I like to play with data. I like to analyze data that are associated with the issues of the day. That's why you've seen the National Assessment of Educational Progress stuff. Gun violence stuff. Anything like that. Except you do nothing of the sort. You merely take the data at face value, with abso...

Is that your limit of understanding on the effects of external forces on the market and economy? Tax bills? Look, if the market was flat since the 2016 election, it would have been a win considering all the negative influences including trade wars, global economy, Fed rate hikes, balance sheet unwi...
