Re: Coronavirus

Ok. Just for fun I kind of played around a little while with different exponential functions. Here is what the current "active cases" COVID 19 growth rate looks like as I type: https://i.imgur.com/P4JhGZq.png Here is what it looks like when you start at 2 then do an exponential increase whereby each...

THE GROWTH RATE IS NOT EXPONENTIAL!!!!!! FFS, I wish people would stop saying that.
You could probably derive an exponential function that fits the curve pretty well. It's definitely not linear.

You've given me something to do now.

Re: Coronavirus

Dr tried to explain that the virus was originally thought to be airbourne thru coughing and sneezing. It's been found that the virus is lighter than previously thought. This means it can become airbourne from talking. When it becomes airbourne, it drops towards the ground in the first few feet. Thi...

Re: Coronavirus

As long as Trump keeps having 3:45 Corona rallies Monday thru Friday to calm the markets....everything will be OK. :thumb: What gets me is that we have about half the population that approves of the job Trump's been doing on this. I mean come ON. How obvious could it be that he's screwed up? We hav...

Re: Coronavirus

Now for why I came here: I am concerned that the CDC changed its recommendations on wearing masks due to political pressure rather than science. I've seen talking heads who had been pressing for this say the reason is that the information has changed. Specifically, they say we now know there can be ...

Re: Coronavirus

Watching Trump again. I just shake my head at the fact that ANYBODY would vote for that buffoon to be President of the United States. Very sad that we have a significant proportion of our population that would vote for somebody like that under ANY circumstances. Not a good sign for the future of the...

Re: Coronavirus

Perhaps I have missed this....why has the media continually added to the confirmed totals, but don't ever lower the numbers from those that have beat it or have died? I don't know but you can see that at the worldometer site. It's frequently updated but as of now it indicates that, in the United St...

Re: Coronavirus

If you like numbers.... From an old high school buddy who’s in cyber-security and data analytics. He’s been posting these for a few weeks now. They’re taken from worldometer, regional health districts, and state official releases. It’s been very predictive. Good afternoon, here are today's numbers....

Re: What is your Kryptonite?

Trump is not Kryptonite. He is a problem and he will pass. The problem with having enough people in the population so that we would elect someone like Trump will also pass. The mindset that supports Trump is losing over the long term. It's depressing to see what the situation is now. But it is the l...

I loved the way the two Doctors, especially the female, tried to bail him out on the question about why didn't he start earlier. Like we don't know that the virus was already here in late January. Right. And Trump with the constant going on to the travel restriction thing. Actually his claims are wo...

Re: Coronavirus

God Lord it is SO embarrassing to have this guy as President of the United States. Really makes all of us look like a bunch of complete rubes. Watching the press briefing. So humiliating to be part of a population that would allow for somebody like that to end up being elected to ANYTHING.

Re: Coronavirus

And why does Trump have to start a press briefing on COVID-19 by saying we had the best economy we'd ever had beforehand when it's obviously not true? Why do that? Also, why keep saying that China is paying the United States because of tariffs when THAT is not true? I guess it's because about 45% of...

Watching the press conference and all the discussion of some unspecified set of models predicting 100,000 to 200,000 plus cases if mitigation strategies are applied. They also showed one output of another model that was specifically referenced and such that you can access the output on line. It's th...

Re: Legit Concerns or Whiny Petulence?

Otherwise: I don't think there is any doubt that our position with respect to world leadership has been diminished by virtue of having Trump as President. Now, we may be fine with that. One can argue that it's a good thing. But we've lost standing in terms of leadership.

Re: Coronavirus

BTW - another "promise" broken - Easter is postponed until at least May. Also he seized upon some modeling outputs to put himself in position to say he did a great job if anything less than 200,000 die in association with COVID-19. Smart move on his part, I guess. But only because there are so many...

Pretty soon we should start getting indictions of whether it's seasonal or not. My wife is a Realtor so it has affected her. But it's not a consistent, predictable income stream anyway. I make plenty enough to keep us going along comfortably and so far, anyway, it does not look like that's going to change. In fact, honestly, we have been in a time where I have been using my inc...
