Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

Actually I embarrassed myself. Something went wrong somewhere when I copied and pasted data. In looking at it again I see there is no correlation.

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

I just did something that I find interesting. I kept seeing people do things like compare Florida to California and make statements about what that means in terms of COVID-19 restrictions. So I decided to see if I could find a list of States ranked by COVID-19 restrictions and run a correlation of t...

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19

You might be right. You also might have an implicit bias against anyone who downplays the virus that impacts your your opinion and responses as well. :coffee: Nearly half the people already downplay the virus, and nearly half the people over react. Truth is somewhere in the middle. I would put Tead...

Re: N. LV Mayor Flips Parties

He’s right....of the current dem Party. Many others are getting disillusioned as well...he won’t be the last. The trends say the Country is going to become more Democratic. We'll see what happens. The Republicans still have a chance to start acting rationally. But I don't see any evidence that it's...

Re: 2020 General Election

This will be like Benghazi where the Republicans spent millions, held hearings from here to Tuesday and nothing ever came of it. Or like Trump impeachment. Any analogy would work. It would be nice if our leaders led and instead of trying to prove that Trump didn't lose they focused on making our el...

Re: 2020 General Election

It is SO ridiculous that you guys are still talking about this. This is what happened: We had an election. Biden won. While there is some fraud in every election, there was not an unusual amount of fraud in this one nor did fraud impact the outcome.

I hadn't watched a college basketball game for years. Watched a lot of that UCLA/Gonzaga game. Not buzzer to buzzer. But a lot of it including the last part. That was something else.

Re: Take Your Ball and Go Home, Georgia

This is kind of interesting: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/smartphone-data-show-voters-in-black-neighborhoods-wait-longer1/ It's a report on a study from 2019 that uses smart phone data to infer that voters in Black neighborhoods have to wait longer in line to vote. That relates to conc...

Re: Take Your Ball and Go Home, Georgia

I saw Brian Kemp on TV saying MLB has not told him what in the law they object to. That is disingenuous. You can argue about whether or not various provisions really do disproportionately impact Black voting in a negative way. But aspects of the law that concern voting rights groups are no secret.

Here's one take on why the new law will hit Black voters: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/25/us/politics/georgia-black-voters.html Frankly I think the Republican Party continues to slit its own throat with respect to the long term. They're doing stuff like this to try to reduce Black voting and it ...

Can you just imagine a situation in which a Republican controlled State government asserts that the Fulton County election board is "struggling" so the State needs to take over and decide which votes are counted and which are not?
