Eastern Kentucky. We had some great battle with them when I was at school, though we usually came out on the wrong end of things.

Re: Yeager: CAA realignment, expansion in next couple of wee
You're a lot more in tune than I am, but I'm not seeing this as big for UD. I really not any more in tune than you are, my friend. I'm pretty sure of that. IMO, it's a big game for UD because of: 1) Geography (40 miles apart) 2) Familiarity (VU is UD's 3rd most played rival ever) 3) Competitiveness...

Re: Yeager: CAA realignment, expansion in next couple of wee
If you add 1 southern team, 2 additional northern teams and convince URI to stay, its an easy setup with 6 in the north 6 in the south But what does that sort of divisional split accomplish with only 12 supposed teams? There's still only going to be 1 NCAA automatic bid, which will be determined in...

Re: Yeager: CAA realignment, expansion in next couple of wee
I'm not sure why anyone believes that CAA FB will necessarily divide along North/South lines. IMO, it becomes more of a possibility if a bunch of teams are added but less likely and unnecessary if its only 2-3. GF's right. VU-UD is a big rivalry for both FB programs. The league will make sure this g...

Re: Yeager: CAA realignment, expansion in next couple of wee
Danefan, I agree with much of your analysis regarding CAA FB expansion. Davidson's and/or Charleston's decision to join the CAA might have the biggest impact of all on CAA FB. 1. Stony Brook - They would make a nice add for at least FB, restoring CAA FB's presence in metro NYC. Arguably, they'd make...

Re: Yeager: CAA realignment, expansion in next couple of wee
Of course, Fiore's non sequitur brain fart could have something to do with the greater greed being displayed by the Big Six BCS conferences. His tweet came on the heals of their announcement about the post-season cash grab deal, which all but locks out those not in the exclusive club.

Re: CAA to allow ODU to play for title
The CAA already knows which schools they want and BU may not have been on the short list. Clearly, they wanted out of the AEC. Forget CAA talks. The conference that so willingly identified with New England now has zero presence in the area's largest media market. If Stony leaves as expected, the AEC...

Re: FCS playoffs - impending vote to move to 24 teams
I'm going to lose sleep over it, it's not my money and my school stands to gain an extra game each year, but a playoff system with 24 teams is absolutely absurd. At a time when the FCS tournament is said to be losing money, further expansion makes no sense. What's worse is the expansion of additiona...

Re: If the CAA loses VCU & GMU who do they add to get back t
Some of you guys communicate as if these universities were running professional basketball outfits. While men's hoops in unquestionably important, they also have 14-20 other revenue sucking sports to think about. Sure, trips to St. Louis, etc. once a year for VCU's or GMU's MBB might not break their...

Re: Georgia State to the Sun Belt?
IMO, I don't see a rush to expansion in either the CAA or CAA FB, unless GMU and VCU leave the CAA this summer. If that happens, the probability of expansion increases.

Re: If the CAA loses VCU & GMU who do they add to get back t
Come on. As commish, Tom Yeager is an easy target but he likely had very little to do with writing the bylaws. CAA and CAA FB AD's and CEO's make the decisions and vote on league issues. From my perspective, CAA leadership look like a friggin' geniuses compared to some of the ineptitude UD suffered ...

Re: If the CAA loses VCU & GMU who do they add to get back t
BTW, don't count on the CAA and CAAFB to be separate forever. IMO, it would be the best thing for the CAA if they could dissolve CAAFB and make it part of the conference with affiliate members. I'm not sure that it would be possible according CAA FB's current bylaws, however. Why they set up the tw...

Re: If the CAA loses VCU & GMU who do they add to get back t
IMO they should not. That said, I think they probably would. ODU is a full member of CAA FB, irrespective of their membership in the CAA. If they moved their Olympic sports programs outside of the CAA, CAA FB would have little ground to expel them. CAA FB bylaws do not allow for expelling members w...

Re: If the CAA loses VCU & GMU who do they add to get back t
The CAA did not have football in 1980, nor 2001 and they merely took the entire A10 lock, stock and barrel. To have Richmond under the CAA banner is indeed back door. I'm not saying they planned it that way back in 2001, but that's how it ended up. Do you think if the CAA were forming a football co...

Having GSU in the CAA hasn't proven to be much of a boon for the conference. Maybe there's a different dynamic with the SBC at will bring a big payoff at some point.

This is a great opportunity for the CAA to pick up a strong all sport conference member. Clearly, GSU was never going to be that type of member.

Re: Which Big East Locker Room Did Delaware Troll For A 2012
I think you missed my bigger point... it does matter where they come from. If a player performs well and gets a good education, who really cares if he matriculated from a high school, JC or another D-I school? It only seems to matter to fans of those schools who are beaten more often than not by Ke...

Re: CCU to the CAA?
I think you may be right, Danefan. It's also possible that CAA FB could expand if, say, GMU or VCU adopted FB programs. If CAA FB membership dropped perilously below 7 members that would be the most likely scenario for the conference to look at non-CAA schools for FB membership.

Re: CCU to the CAA?
It's pretty obvious that CAA FB isn't interested in expanding with anything other than existing CAA members, at least for the time being. So unless the CAA decides to expand its league to 14 members and bring in 2 members with full scholarship FB programs & strong Olympic sports programs, there ...
