Re: App gets 8,000+ for fall scrimmage:
This is the 6th year of fanfest, it is run like this everytime. It is a day to meet the players, kids to play on bouncy toys, and see a concert after the scrimmage. Every year 6-9K show up they must not mind it.

Re: App gets 8,000+ for fall scrimmage:
so your first team O played against your back up D. And your first team D played against the back up O, did I read that right? If so what does that prove? You do realize the purpose of a "fan fest" right? It is to entertain football craving fans that are hopeful of this year's edition. De...

Who is this 49er fan that is displaying quite a bit of knowledge in regards to FCS football?
This is a change of pace and a welcome addition compared to the previous UNCC fans we've seen on here. Welcome aboard, keep it up.

Re: Appalachian State Eager For Another SoCon Football Title
ASU has only won 6 straight. No matter what citadel fans think we have six banners from 2005-2010 and 1992 is a long time ago... Don't see how one can be a champion when the team that TIED with you at the top of the standings BEAT you. If that banner doesn't say CO on it then it's a LIE. Don't be a...

ASU #1 is crazy. Too many questions at WR, OL, and defensive scheme. By the end of the year they may be a top 5 team, but preseason no way.

Re: Change in the geographic base of the CAA
You're missing the point. There aren't 75 relevant college sports as in Cosgrove's statement. It's football and basketball which are relevant with baseball a distant 3rd and then another dropoff before the next sport. Football and basketball drive conference affiliation, I really don't care about th...

Re: Change in the geographic base of the CAA
ESPN televises softball weekly too, doesn't mean anything. College baseball is a joke in the north. Our most minor women's sport gets better attendance than baseball, whereas ice hockey gets numbers similar to men's basketball or better at most places it's played. It's only a joke because you guys ...

If inclusion of baseball is humorous to you, a sport that is televised weekly on ESPN and regional sports channels, imagine how humorous it is when a coach claims 75 sports in the NE.

Re: Change in the geographic base of the CAA
Cosgrove there may be 75 sports somewhere up there, but no body cares about them. There are three sports that count in college sports, football, basketball, and baseball and you aren't relevant in any of them. The CAA knows this and that's why they continue a southern slide.

Nope Small College Championships are not equal to FCS championships.

Re: Do you consider Youngstown State an elite FCS program?
Yep. Really? Where did Delaware, Youngstown, UNI, Montana State, Lehigh, Colgate, UMass, Arkansas St, EIU... all come from prior to I-AA? Nice list. Arkansas St. was Division 1 prior to being 1-AA. Where did Richmond, William & Mary, Nova, Sam Houston, McNeese St., Northern Ill., etc. as well a...

To each his own, UD fans think D2 titles count, everyone else doesn't. As usual the UD fans think they are right even when the rest of the world disagrees... Enjoy that bubble you live in.

Drink your coffee, enjoy your D2 titles. I'll enjoy my D1 titles which are greater than D2 titles, which is my argument from the beginning.

Re: Do you consider Youngstown State an elite FCS program?
I have knowledge of ASU being Division I from 1974-1980 and beating Wake, South Carolina, and ECU in one season before we chose to go down to Division 1AA. Brilliant move on our part.
You are trying to state that the FCS is D2, which it isn't.

Re: Do you consider Youngstown State an elite FCS program?
Small College Division "Went away" as in became Division II. Division II did not become D-1AA, Division I split into D-1A and D-1AA in 1978-1982. Precisely. So the progression of the second level of college football was Small College>D-2>D-IAA>FCS. No, inaccurate yet again. Small College ...

Re: Do you consider Youngstown State an elite FCS program?
This isn't accurate. In 1972 there was a Major College Division and a Small College Division In 1973 these two divisions changed names to Division I and Division II In 1978 Division I was split into Division 1A and Division 1AA. The only thing inaccurate about 89's summary was that he skipped over ...

Re: Do you consider Youngstown State an elite FCS program?
Your arguing name changes will only help my point of view as Small College was renamed D2. Small College wasn't renamed anything, it went away when I-AA was formed. Some of the teams that were Small College went D2 and some went I-AA in 1978. Many more went from D2 to I-AA in '79 and '80. The first...

Re: SoCon Pre-Season Coaches Poll & All Conf Teams
Funny that the 2010 POY is returning but isn't voted preseason POY.
The top of the SoCon should be fun. ASU has a lot of questions, GSU and Wofford are returning a lot, and UTC continues to improve.
WCU just can't be that bad can they?

You guys were the best small college from the Northeast during those years...
