Yes - I thought before the end of the season he deserved the job
On a good note, the coaching situation is now settled. On a bad note, a bunch of good players jump ship (Bernie Andre and Cam Satterwhite). Ouch.

Re: Big Sky Basketball, 2019-20

Shane Burcar named head mens basketball coach for NAU. I approve. Thoughts, dbackjon?

Re: Majerle Canned

Just like Liberty - "Christian" but exploits federal programs to get billions. I haven't been to a game @ GCU since the shenanigans experienced in the crowd (from the cranky GCU fans sitting nearby to security playing the role of "Big Brother") during the CIT opening round game. I thought NAU was s...

Re: Majerle Canned

GCU is all in on men's basketball. It is their marquee sport given the school has no football. Administration has grand visions of playing with the big boys of collegiate hoops. Majerle got the program started but the school administration and fanbase wants more. That being said, the GCU student sec...

Re: Big Sky Basketball, 2019-20

NAU's men have been the biggest surprise so far. I mean, they don't look super good, but they weren't really supposed to beat anybody at all this year. Whatever Burcar is doing different than Murphy seems to be working so far. I've watched 3-4 games online and Burcar comes across as pushing a posit...

Re: 2019 Call Your Shot/Check in

NAU.

7-5 if a few things go right. 6-6 or 5-7 sounds more realistic, though. 10 out of the 12 coaches on staff are new, a beat up offensive line to start the season, late departures/transfers, five tough road games.....that's too much to expect a playoff push.

Re: Big Sky Tournament Thread (2019) - Men

The only teams I think are out of running are WSU and UI. Weber is scuffling/underperforming. Idaho has had the roughest season. I can see any of the rest of the teams pulling an upset in a Big Sky conference lacking a dominant squad. UM and UNC are the best teams but they are not without flaws. It ...

Re: Two Questions

1. Do other states have strip clubs at truck stops or is this just a "Montana" thing? I've driven past the one in Dillon many a times but never pulled the trigger due to time constraints or driving elderly, less "adventurous" relatives. 2. I initially though the correct spelling was "Cochise". But u...

Re: Jerome Souers Retiring… Sort of

One poster on eGriz floated the idea of NAU hiring Bob Stitt and Stitt bringing in Gresch Jensen. I doubt Jensen would go there, however, since Cookus has another year. Cookus hasn't announced what he's planning on doing after his shoulder surgery. It's not a given he's returning, if I read correct...

Re: Jerome Souers Retiring… Sort of

Finally! Thompson? Pflugrad #1? Pflugrad #2? Or something off the radar and out of the norm (hiring outside of the school/conference) for NAU? I don't have a read on the new A.D. and their view of the athletic department's direction yet. NAU has only had two coaches since I started following them i...

Re: Bold predictions for the BSC

I'm going to guess that the Big Sky is not going to have the leading rusher at the end of the regular season. Can you Big Sky guys tell me how many times the leading rush in I-AA/FCS has been from the Big Sky? I honestly don't know but my impression is that it hasn't been often. Archie Amerson for ...

Playing SUU early may be beneficial? NAU is one for seven vs. SUU recently. Given the Jacks penchant for, ahem, forgettable Novembers, I'm going to look for the silver lining and call this a blessing in disguise.

Well....that sucked. I drove 4 hours with traffic to the game and 3 hours back to witness that steaming turd of a game. An embarrassing display by both the offense and the defense. Silver lining, perhaps, is at least NAU special teams kept it together. It boggles the mind how seemingly the whole tea...

Re: Jerome Souers's Semi-Vindication

Now, I don't think NAU deserved to be selected (even the Griz should've been ahead of them, IMO), but I admit it is nice to see their AD (Lisa Campos) get embarrassed after that terrible sort-of firing in September. She has now put herself in the position where she either has to get rid of a playof...

Well done, WSU and SUU. Good luck in the playoffs. I've always enjoyed bantering with WSU fans. I like the Webers. Admittedly, I don't know any SUU fans other than a high school friend because their kid goes to school there. I saw many SUU fans were in attendance today on plutotv.com. Where are the ...

I don't have a single friend that grew up in New York, Chicago or San Francisco who give two squats about college football. Can we just take a second to talk about how hilarious it is that the Vikes were booted in favor of a women's soccer game? Portland  The Portland Thorns are averaging 17,000+ fans per home game. PSU football isn't. The city supports soccer better than college football. Many places in the US do...
