Re: Charlotte declines full CAA membership, wants football-o

All of this rhetoric is pure fluff. UNC-C is going Big South for football only. It's done! Expect an announcement by fall.

Re: Brand new SoCon 2013

Because I could see a great yearly rivalry football game with my alma mater, The Citadel. It would be a natural. It would easily become like the annual Carolina-Clemson game and perhaps as big! What a great shot in the arm that would be for FCS ball in the Southeast! Instead of trying to create and...

Re: Brand new SoCon 2013

Coastal has serious image problems and honestly doesn't measure up to the standards of the other SoCons. The Chants not only had several of their athletes jailed this past season for various infractions, I believe I read that the NCAA may be investigating some questionable eligibility issues. Their ...

Re: Brand new SoCon 2013

I could be wrong but I don't think GSU is going anywhere in the near term which means one team leaves. One Option, add no one. Football goes back to 8 and basketball is lopsided. Option two, add another non-football playing member. Besides not really know who a good candidate would be I also hope n...

I don't think we will have much of a problem with them. Their "sorry" looked considerably worse than our "sorry". I just hope we can stay on the field with Spurrier's gang 'o thugs.

Re: UNC Charlotte will have football

I noticed in the Charlotte Post that Rev. Kojo Nantambu, President of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Branch NAACP made a formal request to Judy Rose and the Athletic Department of the Charlotte 49ers to change the mascot from the nondescript "C with a pickaxe" back to the original dark faced ch...

Re: UNC Charlotte will have football

UNCC's lady AD recently took a dump on the CAA in a newspaper article. I would call her a bitch (the program has no stadium or team yet) but the comments came off as stupidity on her part, not overlooking the CAA...what? I think you must be referring to that not so subtle Judy Rose Kiss my ass comm...

Re: UNC Charlotte will have football

Two events have transpired since my last post. (1) UNC-C AD Judy Rose announced that she will have a football coach in place by March who will not be the head football coach when football starts. (I'll attempt to translate that illogical "UNC-C speak" rhetoric later) (2) The city of Charlo...

Re: UNC Charlotte will have football

The UNC System is screwed up anyway so who can blame the other 16 schools in the system not in Chapel Hill for skirting the crooked rules to build needed facilities. The BOD wouldn't fund a much-needed bigger library at App for a long time, but they gladly appropriated tax dollars to build the Dean...

Re: UNC Charlotte will have football

I wasn't going to stick my nose into the UNC-C dogpile but now I'm pissed so I shall. First off you have to realize that the city of Charlotte NC has a huge ego. They envision themselves as being far "ahead of" Hotlanta in the race to be the center of the New South. Professional sports in ...

Re: Who should be the favorite to win the SoCon in 2011?

It's going to be a rat race between the puppies and UNC-Tweetsie. GSU has a legit shot if they can stay healthy, win the games they are supposed to win and beat one one of the top two. The Appies are going to be a little less talented this fall while the Terriers are getting nearly everything back. ...

Re: New Gardner-Webb Head Coach

I continue to be amazed at the misguided scuttlebutt emanating from the keyboards of the misinformed and creative crackpots who inhabit this website. There have been offers extended. Some verbal commitments are known. We have at least one BCS transfer on campus and enrolled. Several potential recrui...

Re: New Gardner-Webb Head Coach

I was on this decision Thursday and said so here. In a way I was silently pulling for Ron. He is a strong personality. I met him 2 years ago and liked him. Ron Dickerson, Jr. is a good choice although I could make a good case for a couple of other applicants. In an earlier post I mentioned Bonner's ...

Re: New Gardner-Webb Head Coach

bulldogdad, don`t you think this hiring process has been somewhat of a mess? No official announcement, 1 weekend left for recruiting, meanwhile every school we play and every conference opponent is using it against us. Not to mention how fair is it to our players? I would call that a mess! Not a me...

Re: New Gardner-Webb Head Coach

Right after Patton was sacked, a university employee deeply entrenched in academia at GWU told me that Bonner had expressed rather emphatically that the hire SHOULD be a minority. Ron Broadway, currently the HC at Grambling was approached but did not express an interest. Dickerson has good credentia...

Re: New Gardner-Webb Head Coach

I know little about Coach Lance Leipold. With a name like that he sounds like a coach. He's been hugely successful coaching in the frozen tundra. I give him an outside chance. With things dragging out this far after interviews it sounds like they offered and couldn't come to terms on the contract. I...

I'm not surprised that Lamb was not invited. I am surprised Broadway was not. We still have some very solid candidates for our leaders to choose from. Go Runnin' Bulldogs! I agree.
