Re: Game Thread: App State Turf Replacment/Crown Removal
OK sargent clueless let me make this as simple as possible. Number One: THE TURF IS NOT CUT FOR LOGOS OR HASH MARKS. THERE ARE NO SEAMS IN THIS SURFACE EXCEPT WHERE THE YARD LINES AND SIDE LINES MEET. Number Two: THERE ARE NO PAINTED SURFACES. IT IS ALL COLORED FIBERS. NO PART OF THE SURFACE HAS AN...

Re: Game Thread: App State Turf Replacment/Crown Removal
Pipe down Francis....if you have 4.4 speed, are a potential NFL recruit, and you're turning on a painted surface vs. one with a seam for every hashmark how would you feel? Are you going to turn a knee on paint or on one of several dozen seams put on the field? I'm gathering these folks have done th...

Re: Game Thread: App State Turf Replacment/Crown Removal
You know something. I'm betting the Field Turf people have actually done this before and have a pretty good idea how to put this stuff down so it stays in place. The exisitng strands are shaved off the backing (as shown in the photo) and the inserts are held in place with a commercial hot glue. The...

Re: Game Thread: App State Turf Replacment/Crown Removal
Everything so far has been turf, even the hash marks. For example. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3502/5831820446_e8775faaea.jpg It looks like they just rolled out the "A" over top of the existing green turf without cutting it out. Also, it seems like embedding all those hash marks would ...

Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
Good grief! I used it as a point of reference for posters not familiar with our stadium. And I'm sorry, I've never heard of this "home side/visitor side" dilemma within the AppSt fanbase. I imagine it's a "dilemma" manufactured by persons trying to make our stadium out to be som...

Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
Good grief! I thought our people had finally out grown the home side / visitor side high school reference to bed. Is it any coincidence the people who still use this terminology are the ones wanting ASU to stay FCS. Wonder what they will call the north and south end zone stands when they are built?...

Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
sk & app, that's all well and good. Same stories for most schools, so it's not a problem App St. faces alone. But the numbers tell a story. We can all look into it as much as we want and throw around excuses, but that's not the point. What is the point, it that in FCS, the playoff games...what ...

Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
I don't think it's fair to use our regular season average to compare to playoffs. Western Illinois was in a snowstorm. No way you're going to get thousands of people to sit on a snow covered hill. In September? No problem... the hill is packed. December? People will stay home and watch on tv instea...

Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
While I respect your opinion Appa, I don't think you are looking at this move up as a whole for the university. Rather it seems you are only looking at this from a football only perspective. I agree with you that nothing beats a playoff system, however, you have to give some thought as to what this...

Re: Appalachian State to CUSA?
Yup - national champs in 96 (over Montana), MAC Champs in 97, 98, 99, 00, 02. East Division Champs in '01 Six straight Bowls, 5-1 record in them. I don't even know how it's a question. I also don't understand how winning in sub par conferences with the red headed stepchildren of FBS is something gr...

Re: ALL THINGS CONSIDERED:which stadium is better?
They both look like high school stadiums. If you are going to show Richmond's stadium at least show the right one. It is small, about 8,700 seats, but it all the amenities of a collegiate stadium.

Re: Karl Marx is My George Washington
Somehow I've never been able to associate the words idiot and millionaire with one another. Each one of those TV personalities espouses a position and people who share that opinion, or dislike as the case may be, tune in. The left just has a hard time understanding how people can pay attention to t...

Seriously... I've seen enough youtube clips of him to use the word LOONY... One thing you got to give him credit for - he knows his loyal viewers are idiots - and plays that fiddle like a Mozart concerto (and IDIOT is exactly the word I was looking for) thank you And I'm not completely convinced th...

Re: Karl Marx is My George Washington
I don't watch him that much but I don't think it's difficult to see what he stands for. He's for sticking to the original principles of the Constitution and against the "Progressive" movement. And can you reference something he's said either about original Constitutional principles or the...

Re: THE BLACKFALKIN PROPOSAL
The stadium currently seats 8600. For the 2010 regular season you averaged 7290, a number greatly skewed upwards by the Montana game. The average for the other 4 regular season games was 6188. You followed that up with an average of 4775 for the playoffs with only 6600 showing up for the semi-finals...
