Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

It only took a world wide virus to extend it. They were very likely to win one or two this year. And, from what I read and can see about next year, they might be a top 10 team.

Early predictions have Nova in 1 or two. Would be nice the see a fourth title come to the Main Line.

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

Quite a year for College Bball. Who would have predicted Dayton, San Diego State and Creighton to be top 10 programs. Gotta believe there will be more upsets than usual. The teams look so evenly matched. Just throwing it out there. How many teams have a shot to win it all? Thoughts? Predictions? Ju...

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

Beating the #9 team in the nation certainly helps. Let me go out on a limb and predict a first round loss in the NC tourney. Still have only 1 win out of their own gym. Well, let's be honest, that's a weird stat you're pulling up. They played like what, one non-conference game on the road? So you'r...

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

Tough loss for the Scarlet Knights last night. Hard to see them in the tournament with a 1-10 record on the road and neutral court.

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

Out of conference stats to consider: The Big East leads all conferences with an 80.1 percent winning percentage, ahead of the Big 12 (76.5%), Big Ten (75.7%), ACC (75.3%), Pac-12 (74.2%), AAC (70.5%) and SEC (70.4%). The Big Ten and Big East are knotted 8-8 through 16 non-conference games this seaso...

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

RU's win against Seton Hall was without Powell I believe. I think he only played a few minutes. These two teams play each other next so one of them will be on a three game losing streak.

Can't wait for March Madness.

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

The Big 10 is deep and talented, I agree. I would be leery about tournament success though. They don't seem to be able to win on the road.

and, maybe it's just me, but a conference where Penn State and Rutgers win, makes one wonder too.

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

At this juncture of the season it appears that the old Big East members that left to go to the ACC-Miami, Pitt, Va Tech, BC, Notre Dame and Syracuse will all be out of the NCAA tournament. Louisville is the only team that is in and they had to poach a Big East coach to do so. That's pretty damning....

Pony express got way-laid by bandits in Missouri so the news hasn't made it back East yet.

I was just reading about the Pony Express last week. Didn't know it only lasted about 13 months and was replaced by the telegraph that quickly. Technology!

It's only one indicator. Not folly, for sure. You missed my point though. Delaware had very good teams in the years I included in my post. You were happy as a clam with the level of competition i'm sure. Doesn't make you a bad guy. Maybe you're unable to separate your fandom for your team fro...

Re: SHOULD NDSU GET TF OUTTA FCS?

Or, you can spin it that it has been the same for 20 years. Bet you weren't posting in 2003, 2004 and 2010 that the FCS was in such awful shape. No, I wasn't. You're assuming that I think number of draft picks is a good indicator of the strength of the division. I do not. But it was Cleets that mad...

Re: THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE

Last year at this time Depaul was 121st in KenPom. About a 60 team improvement year over year.

They have beaten Iowa, Minnesota, Butler, BC, Texas Tech and they took Villanova to overtime at the Finn.

No dreaming here, just facts.

Interesting list from Massey. Nothing from Massey is interesting. :coffee: So predictable 89. You and 93 are the Bittermen of the forum. The FCS is alive and well. Massey and Sagarin computer rankings are only one way to measure teams. Are they perfect, especially for football, definitely not. Whet...

No, I don't want NDSU to move up. Even though I feel they are already one of the top 30 or so programs in all of college football, I like the idea of challenging the best. Reminds me somewhat of UCLA in the Wooden era.

Another outstanding week for the Big East!

St. John's knocks off #24 Arizona
Butler over Purdue
Villanova over #1 Kansas
Seton Hall over #13 ranked Maryland
Xavier over TCU

Quality wins.

From what I have seen so far Ohio State is head and shoulders above the field. We will see how long it lasts. You mean best non Big East school. ;) and down they go to as soon as I mention how impressive they are to a decent Minnesota team. Maybe you're right. Maybe Butler or Depaul can take them. ...
