Re: UNI to FBS?
I know there is never a clear answer for this, but would FBS help UNI's money issues or make them worse? The state now requires no general funds toward athletics, right?

My kids only buy lunch every other pizza friday. That sh!t is expensive these days! Our's is $2.25 per lunch. And yeah, our little guy generally just buys on pizza days as well. Really, though, trying to regulate lunches as an effective way to combat childhood obesity is like using an eyedropper to...

Um, by all means read the transcript. Walker was more blunt and candid than he obviously would be in a public address ("I'll listen, but I'm not negotiating"), but he was still surprisingly professional and consistent with what he's publicly said. The only one who said anything offensive ...

Sad - and really, no reason for them to have ever been there. Stupid decision to sail in those waters and they paid for it with their lives. What a waste. Agreed. Sounds like they could have stayed pretty safe if they had stayed with their group, but decided they really had to go it alone. Very sad.

What kind of peppers do you all put in your chili? I put chipotle peppers in adobo sauce in my last batch and the flavor was good, but the spice wasn't what I wanted. Thinking of adding a couple serrano peppers next time, or should I go full-stop and throw in haberenos?

Anyone else see the title and worry that the teachers in Montana had gone on strike and this was the response?

If people want to consider where their products come from, how they are made, and what will happen to them after they are done with them, what's so wrong with that? Its up to you if you want to consider those factors in addition to how well they function (reviews of which are available a myriad of o...

I would think relatively flat and trails and/or roads that feel safe would be prerequisites. If you are going to have to climb hills or be out in steady 35mph traffic, it seems like most people who would be comfortable doing that would already have their own bikes. Plus, from the looks of things, mo...

It's a shame that when the Dem's controlled congress for 40 years that they decided to steal the SS money and put in those IOU's. Also a shame that younger Americans will have to wait longer and pay more to make up for the dem thieves. Here's Ed Schultz on the subject --- The MSNBC Ed (Schultz) Sho...

Well that would account for the poor countries where you have to scrap and fight for everything you get, but what about the commies in Europe? In the case of Finland (according to my Finnish co-workers), they direct their poor performers to trade schools before HS to learn a skill. Essentially, you...

I think you guys misunderstand the point of this. They aren't going to throw random s*** at the wall just to see what sticks. They are doing a lot of the research and testing the private sector would be doing if they only had more money for it. Not true. They're going to have Amtrak conductors doin...

Actually, this might be the best healthcare-related idea to come out of Washington in a long time. Getting a clinical trial together (which is required for any drug to be approved by the FDA) is expensive and can be logistically difficult. You first have to recruit patients with the condition you a...

Interesting list. As much as I would LOVE rail access all around the country, much of the country just isn't set up well for it. If we're going to invest in it, we need to be smart and put it places where it will be the most useful, not just cast trains about as pork barrel, feel-good handouts. Fir...

Some of the agencies on the list may be worth cutting, especially if they are redundant or could be handled by another agency. i.e. Cut the International Doing Something Agency if that work could be handled by the Depart of Doing Stuff. Also, call me a cynic, but its pretty easy to introduce lots of...

That time of the year for W2s to come out. What percentage of your income was withheld in (a) Federal tax, (b) SS tax, (c) Medicare tax, and (d) State income tax? For me (number are identical for my wife): (a-c) 16.8% (d) 4.8% For a total of 21.6%. Last year, my federal withholding was about right,...

Are you taking the percentages of your gross wage, your taxable income wage, or your taxable social security wage? Although it doesn't really matter, they are all too much. :( I think I calculated mine off of taxable income wage. Whatever way makes you feel better (or worse, if that's what you pref...
