Re: SHSU adds more depth to an already NASTY def.
The Kats have landed a DL from OKST who will add to what is already a nasty Bearkat Defense. ----- From OK State website: Diamonte Wheeler Class: Sophomore Hometown: Arlington, TX High School: Bowie Height / Weight: 6-2 / 285 Position: DT And he doesn't have a criminal record, so Lamar wasn't inter...

Re: Lamar vs McNeese
Lamar didn't have much of a running game but they had a great passing attack. Lamar's QB Bevil is local JUCO transfer who also played for Woodard (Lamar's HC) at Navarro JC and he played very well. It was a hard hitting game and McNeese turned the ball over quite a few times. I didn't attend the gam...

Re: New JMU scoreboard to be bigger than 2/3 of FBS
Lamar's new video scoreboard will be 50' x 25'. The frame is already up and they'll be installing it any day now.

Re: Update on Lamar University's Stadium Renovations
Here's the original drawing of the stadium back in 1964 when it was built showing the stadium bowled in. Now that there's the Montagne Center on the north end and a larger athletic complex on the south end, it limits capacity. I doubt they'll be expanding it for at least 5 years anyways, especially ...

Re: Update on Lamar University's Stadium Renovations
26+ Mill? How bout a pressbox renovation u bastards!? After Hurricane Rita blew through in 2005 they spent $1.5 million from insurance money rebuilding the pressbox. I guess they didn't want to spend any more money on it for now. Looks nice. What will the capacity be? They said capacity will be abo...

Update on Lamar University's Stadium Renovations
The field turf is going down and the goal posts are going up. The video scoreboard is about to be installed in front of the new field house. The $26+ million renovation of the stadium is almost complete. http://www.bigredinsider.com/images/stories/endzone%201.jpg Photos from today: http://www.bigred...

Re: The Eve of Lamar's Season Tix Public Sale
Article in the local paper says roughly 3,000 season tickets have been sold so far. About 1100 of those are in the most expensive "gold" section, which cost $400 and are the chair-back seats. Not too bad after a couple of days. The stadium will seat about 16,000 and about 3,500 seats will ...

Re: The Eve of Lamar's Season Tix Public Sale
Here's a photo gallery from this morning. They had about 200 fans lined up when the ticket office opened this morning. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/012310aaa.html# I don't know for sure if the money from parking, concessions, etc. goes strictly to the athletic budget or not...

Re: The Eve of Lamar's Season Tix Public Sale
A few fans are going to spend the night outside the ticket office so they'll get the best seats in the morning. Lamar has a total of about 15,000 season tickets available and I'm guessing they'll sell somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000. The football program will be just fine, especially compared to ...

Here's what Lamar's helmet will look:

I haven't seen or heard what their uniforms will look like though.
I do visit the bobcatfans.com forums occasionally so I may drop in more to talk some SLC sports.

I wonder if Texas State will go after SHSU's ex-head coach, Todd Whitten. Both Lamar and North Texas have been talking to him.

Re: FCS Expansion teams
Thanks and there's no need to apologize. I'm excited about the return of football to Lamar after 21 years! My apologies coachacola, Lamar's website only has 14 listed (including football). Softball's a great sport down south. Best of luck to the program as it continues to expand

Re: FCS Expansion teams
Lamar currently sponsors 16 sports counting the addition of football. They are also planning to start a women's softball program, and they have the approval to start a women's swim team and bowling team if they desire. I think Lamar's long term goal is to go FBS but they haven't said much about it p...

Re: FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS?
Lamar University will be spending almost $30 million on renovations to their football stadium, constructing a new athletic complex, and building a new soccer field with a field house for both soccer and softball. Because of the bond market they are a little behind schedule but they should start in l...
