Re: Sun Belt 2024 Thread
I haven't checked the standings often this season and didn't notice until yesterday that Marshall is in first place in the east. The last time I looked GSU was in first. Still some drama with one regular season game to go. If App can steal a win at GSU, we would be bowl eligible in an overall down s...

Re: Politically Motivated Flood Response
I didn’t include the last paragraph of the screenshot of the FB post from my earlier post because while it stated funds will go to the Gerton Fire Department & local community, it was to personal Paypal and Venmo. Here is their FB page. https://facebook.com/100064701510800/ Sorry to hear sounds...

Re: Politically Motivated Flood Response
I actually know Gerton pretty well, and worked there for a few months several years ago . I also dated a woman from Bat Cave for some time. I'm glad to hear from there because the Rocky Broad River can get angry quick, just like the Swannanoa. And I know they have been cut off. From your quoted pos...

Re: Politically Motivated Flood Response
I usually stay out of politics, but this caught my eye. FEMA was beginning to mobilize here prior to Helene. They arrived in force by Sunday. I can attest to this because they have been staying at the hotel across the street from me. Could they do more? Probably. How big would you like government t...

Re: Politically Motivated Flood Response
Its obvious the lack of response to the massive floods in Red states are politically motivated, but is this gonna back fire when Biden and Harris find out there is a flood? Will voters actually wake up and realize their American tax dollars are sent to Ukraine for laundering and not kept here, for ...

Re: Pac 12 gets 4 more.
I just read that they want UNLV and Utah State now as well as the others. That would be a strong conference, but not a "Power" conference in my opinion.

Re: Sun Belt 2024 Thread
And for all that they've hung 70 points on previously unbeaten UNC today. With 4 minutes left to play. I cannot explain it. Vs UNCC and G Webb 9 1st half points- COMBINED. vs UNC 53, most 1st half points in program history. I have never seen a game to game contrast like G Webb to UNC in 40+ years o...

Re: Sun Belt 2024 Thread
Meanwhile JMU: -Only 4 starters from last season started 1st 2 games (th injured). Throttled a shitty UNCC team, sucked big time vs G Webb (only won 13-7) and likely going to get ass kicked @ UNC starting in under an hr. Meanwhile JMU West in Bloomington (13 JMU transfers, 8 started opener (a 9th w...

The previous post was incorrect, as I omitted South Alabama last night. They kicked our ass 48-14. This may be a long season.

Re: Sun Belt 2024 Thread
A beat down at Clemson. The next two games are East Carolina at Greenville and Liberty in Boone. App could be 1-3 heading into conference play based on how we've looked the first two games.

Re: Sun Belt 2024 Thread
NC State has opted out of a scheduled game in Boone in (I think) 2025. They claim that the ACC requested no more away games at G5 stadiums.

Re: Washington Griz Stadium September 2025
Rob is planning to be at the Griz/Bear game on August 21 and Ashville App is hoping to make the Griz/Catamount game on September 21. Rob, any chance you could switch to the Catamount game? I'm not sure I could make either but I'm going to see what I can do. My game is in 2025, I like to plan ahead....

This has some possibilities! Still a good while away though, and things can happen. This is the third time I've made plans to get back to Montana.

Washington Griz Stadium September 2025
I may be heading west next year! App is playing Boise State on September 27, and Glacier NP is close enough to spend a week in prior. In planning I noticed that Montana has a home game on September 20th. I could come down from Kalispell to meet any interested takers for the game. Just something to t...

Re: IS FCS FOOTBALL DYING?
Yeah, the (Sun Belt Conference) has been a haven for 1AA/FCS schools along with Conference USA. They've put together a pretty nice little football conference. Part of me misses the SOCON, but we're still in a pretty good place. Damn right ;) App State is the poster child of a successful FCS to FBS ...

Re: IS FCS FOOTBALL DYING?
A lot will depend on what the big boys do with the NCAA men's basketball tournament. If it stays close to what it currently is then schools will stick around so they have an opportunity to partake in the spoils. If the big boys make it their own invitational and exclude potential Cinderellas then t...

Re: IS FCS FOOTBALL DYING?
If you mean a second level of D1 I agree, no matter what it's called. It's also likely that many smaller current FCS teams will move to D2 or D3. Maybe that's a good thing.
