No TV = Sellout?
Montana might get a few thousand extra in the stands because of the lack of coverage. Good or bad for the University?

Re: Big Sky Power Rankings 10-3
2. Montana (4)---Quite a jump for the Grizzlies after a resounding win at home against Northern Colorado. A win was expected, the margin was good, but it took a strong third quarter to seal the game. This week, the Grizzlies head to Idaho State in search of their first road win of the season. The G...

Re: 2012 Schedules in Header
When are we going to start building the 2012 schedules? Many are out, or partially out, but there's no convenient way to track their progress.....inquiring minds want to know.... Montana's 2012 schedule so far: 9/1 at Appalachian State TBD 9/8 OPEN 9/15 OPEN 9/22 Northern Arizona * TBD 9/29 at East...

Re: Whoomp...there it is!
Montana has seven active roster NFL'ers. I think only App. State is close. We have four seniors right now that are good prospects. A 6'3" corner with 4.4 speed that's a lock to go in the 3rd-4th round. A linebacker that's 6'2" 245 and is leading the FCS in tackles at 15 per game, and two O...

That just might be shaping up as quite a game. Weber might end up being a top three Big Sky team this year after seeing them against Sacto.

They'll be punished this week but after next Saturday they will begin their next run towards the playoffs and will regain respect. EWU by 10 Saturday in Cheney.

Re: EWU @ Montana
I'm certainly reading alot of postings about the Eagle Offense and Mitchell having a bad game. Well how about some credit for that Griz Defense? Fantastic goal line stand. Interceptions. Rushing the passer and making him hurry and throw off his back foot all day long. Reason for the rushing success ...

Re: EWU @ Montana
Nice write up, Thanks.
These guys are seniors. They better improve and fast. Tully and Hermanson next season. They will get lot's of reps in 2011.I think the GRIZ safeties are too green to become excellent this season, but definately improving every week.

Poly is a very good team. It's totally ridiculous that they are so low in the polls. What 2 votes or some crap like that. They go 7-4 this year.

I still think EWU goes 8-3. They started slow last season also and went undefeated the last 11 games.

Re: EWU @ Montana
Not so much Mitchell being off as the Griz Defense bringing pressure all day long and causing him to throw off his back foot and sailing the ball over receivers heads. The announcers talked about that all afternoon and one was a former Griz QB John Edwards.

Like that SUU quarterback. Nice release, throws well on the run, gets yards with his legs. Number 6 is a really nice looking running back.

2009 Griz (National Runnerup) 38-0 over Western State. 2010 Griz 73-2 over Western State with 16 returning starters and all skill players returning. These guys were not the worst team in Division II. They were 3-8 last season and returned 16 starters including their QB, RB, and top WR. There are many worse Div II's than Western State.

Montana called off the dogs at Halftime and played the pups in the 2nd half. The pups scored 31 points also. 8-) 4 QB's played 5 RB's played 8 WR's caught passes 28 defensive players recorded tackles These type of games don't tell much about the team but gives the 2nd and 3rd stringers good on-field...

Re: Montana, MSU ponder future in Big Sky Conference
As a WAC fan though, i wonder if Montana hasn't 'peaked'- i'm not sure if there is potential for growth, if Montana can really be bigger than they already are. UTSA, TxState, maybe a couple of California schools, could have the potential to be serious FBS teams; i'm not yet convinced that Montaina ...

Re: Should UM move up if they can?
Sacramento is in a different place than most here realize. In a town like Sacramento they really need to be FBS. They could rival Fresno State as they are in a similar situation. Recruiting hotbed, large town that hungers for bigtime sports, large student population. They languish in FCS because nob...

Re: Should UM move up if they can?
As a WAC team Montana would no longer have the playoffs. No money maker anyway. We probably just about break even on home playoff games with the NCAA taking 75%. In FBS you get 12 games, so 6 home games, 6 away games would be the norm. O'Day would make sure of that, 4 conference, 1 FCS OOC, 1 FBS OO...

Statham had a class credit issue to clear up and will join the team when classes start. Kirschner broke a toe playing basketball this summer, needed surgery, and will probably redshirt. Freshman Canada has looked like a great get in camp so far.
