Re: Is the Big Sky the most hated conference in FCS?
Ibanez, the point he's trying to make is funding base. Public perception. CC is still the Little Brother in the public's eye, and relatively speaking lacks recruitment draw. Just as PSU is Little Brother of UO/OSU.On ly a lot of winning and time will change that.

Re: Big Sky volleyball
The BSC volleyball tournament is in play today. Alas, Sac State didn't make it. ISU did, and proved their worth by taking out NDU in the first round. PSU took Montana 3-0. It's ISU v PSU in the final tonight. ISU has momentum, but PSU does too. And it's home turf for them. PSU with setter Schlatter ...

Re: THE DAM CUP
So speaks someone who only cares about football. The "Dam Cup" is about all athletics, both men and women. Football, basketball, soccer, volleyball. In 2017 EWU will add softball, so that should be added to the Cup points total. Don't know why golf isn't there now. I don't like the name ei...

Re: THE DAM CUP
Columbia Cup is already taken by a power boat race on the Columbia. Agreed, it's as dam foolish name, a marketing failure. I figure we'll wait 20-30 years til we join up with the FBS and put the rivalry where it naturally belongs - UO/PSU. The Ducks as well financed as they are can't ride the waves ...

Re: THE DAM CUP
On topic - The Dam Cup, something for over-paid university presidents to talk about and no one else. Who gives a damn? But for what it's worth, we're 7 points up on EWU right now. No doubt football will bring Eastern up to 4 and it will hang on basketball. 2 more points and we take the Dam Cup. Agai...

Granted, your format is traditional. The East is the center of population from which people went Out west to. But now the West Coast is the center of population, so we go Out to the relatively empty plains of the Palouse.

Re: Week 12 Scores
I'm surprised PSU hasn't run more. We've ben plagued as usual with penalties. Ramirez (QB) is playing a little better than usual - maybe they'll let him pass more. I like those trick plays - using the TE as a QB, the flea flicker, both worked. Still, we'll see more Adams in the second half.

Hey, Superhornet, Sac State went down in flames today, couldn't get on the board. PSU took them 1-0, completing an unbeaten season. And tonight we have you in volleyball - we ought to win that one too. Sac has done a little better this year in volleyball though. You should make tournament.

Re: Big Sky predictions 9-28
Agree, Mvem. Re PSU/CP, it's the Option vs the Pistol. Depends on whether PSU's backfield holds up against the pass. Funny - when CP's coach was up here he played a predominantly rushing game. They seem to be switching to the pass? Making do with the quarterback he has?? A high scoring game - more l...

Re: Big Sky Predictions - 9/22
SD and Super - I would diffidently suggest that the PSU-SUU game is at least a 50-50 no-call. Yeah, our defense has a very large question mark. Don't see how firing the DC last week will help much, but I figure Burton will at least pull them into line. Our true freshman QB is actually better than av...

Re: Carroll College at Portland State
"Bump for the pols"??! What the hell does that mean?! It was a predictably messy game, with PSU starting a freshman QB. 38-20 and it could have been higher. Brown out - couldn't be worse. The perils of playing a gimme. On the other hand, UND's Starting QB is also on crutches. Sigh.

Re PSU vs Carroll, Burton doesn't run up the score. If we pull ahead by three or four touchdowns he'll substitute in the freshmen. I figure 36-21, assuming we can stop their running game.

Re: PSU, NAU, SUU, UCD: Why?
Kavanaugh (your spelling's fine) will be missed: he was an excellent running QB. However, he was only average at passing. Finding a QB that can do both is the trick. Burton did in fact recruit a couple very good QB freshmen, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them didn't see some time. We also ha...

Re: Big Sky Webcast?
The dominance of UO/OSU/Trailblazers here in Portland is obvious if you bother to look at the so-called regional newspaper, The Oregonian. They totally ignore PSU. But there's competition in TV. Result: we have 9 games televised this fall. Our PR people deserve a medal for getting those contracts.

Re: PSU, NAU, SUU, UCD: Why?
I wouldn't say the line is hot on PSU (look at Mvem's predictions). But yes, it's reasonable to see them in the middle somewhere. Coach Burton introduced the Pistol offense last year (does anyone else in the Big Sky use it?) and it worked (7-4 isn't bad). We'll use it again, though we won't concentr...
