Re: 10/13 Scores
Just verifying that the entire state of Montana is not on suicide watch right now with both Montana and Montana State losing at home. Probably more likely, they are taking it out on real birds (such as eagles and thunderbirds) right now.

WIthout a doubt... Cal Poly. So much so that they shouldnt be eligible for the title bc they have a h&h contract with EWU which throws a wrench in it.. At the same time, I cant complain bc EWU might lose to Cal Poly.. :coffee: Can't the same be said about EWU, with the h&h contract with Cal...

What CitGrad says is true to some degree, even in the Navy, but I gotta say that I'm with Tbird on THIS one. (And THAT's a first....) I'm former enlisted Navy, and Annapolis is just about the only FBS team I care for anymore. I never understood that Academy vs. ROTC/OCS bias. Sure, I live to see We...

Pretty good. You're edging Idaho State (42,144/game).JayJ79 wrote:I wonder which FCS team has played in front of the most total people thus far this season (i.e. cumulative total of attendance for both home and road games).
UNI is sitting at 181,441 (which averages to 45,360/game)

Re: Big Sky Power Rankings 9-17
Additionally, I'm not so sure I'd consider NMHU as still "struggling." I know they had that huge losing streak that my buddy John Fassel (my teammate at UOP before he transferred to Weber) broke during his short stint as their HC (hired at age 29) before he was lured to the Ravens (now wi...

Re: Big Sky Predictions 9-15
I wouldn't 19 points is 19 points. Cal is a decent team and losing to them by 19 points is a respectable performance by a by SUU or any other FCS team but it is not close to a upset. I consider a near upset to be within one score like EWU's loss to WSU or North Dakota's loss tonight to San Diego St...

Re: NCAA Predictions for every game left in the season
 The knowledgable fans have ALWAYS done better than the computers. Not true, the computers generally do better than the human polls, at least in terms of (1) predicting game outcomes and (2) being able to earlier in the year identify teams that will end up highly ranked. But, neither does very...

SUU has already played 3 games or only has 10 on the schedule? :coffee: SUU hosts Division II New Mexico Highlands this week. That game wasn't included in the data. In almost every year, New Mexico Highlands would be a cream puff. But, they just went into a conference rival, Fort Lewis, and beat th...

Re: Question for Montana Fans...
It is actually more complicated than either of us claimed. For football and basketball, it depends on whether the student-athlete was recruited and even then doesn't count except when playing varsity or it can be certified that it was for academic reasons. Here is the actual rule in the NCAA Divisio...

Re: Question for Montana Fans...
In the NCAA, a person with an academic scholarship will still count against the athletic schollie limit if they play sports? Guess they wouldn't do that, but I hope I phrased the question properly. No, academic scholarships don't count toward athletic limits. Just ask the University of San Diego, w...

There are few D2 schools in the Pacific Northwest unfortunantly. I believe the GNAC has Humbolt State, Dixie State, Western Oregon, Central Washington and one more (maybe Southern Oregon). They play each other twice during conference play. They would be great in D2, but D2 football is just dead in ...

Cal State Northridge? But that's been more than 3-4 years...was it 2000? That is a good point. They dropped football when they moved from the Big Sky to the Big West. The California members of the then Big West dropped football in the few years before that. I was thinking of Cal State Northridge as...

Uhm, I crossposted this one to the other site, and I thought of the ex-FCS teams (who dropped the sport as recently as 3 years ago) located in the Northeast and the West Coast. I was also thinking about Idaho that should've gone their way because they have really struggled in I-A/FBS. I couldn't th...

Good luck finding any set of numbers that match. you can look at 5 different places and have 5 different numbers Which is why I prefer the ones that are in a standard format and are mandatory by law and must be certified, rather than what a reporter picked up poking around the athletic department. ...

At the University of Northern Iowa, for example, football revenues were approximately $961,000 in 2011 while expenses topped $2.8 million. Scholarships and salaries accounted for nearly $2.1 million of the cost. Strange. UNI reported to the US Department of Education, under penalty of perjury, that...

Apparently, some people think the Montana-Appalachian State game is both the first and second best FCS game of the week.
Either that, or they think another FCS game is better than Montana-Appalachian State.
