Re: NFL Draft (or why LSU won the CFP championship)

Well, LSU did tie Ohio State's record for a 7 round draft by getting 14 players taken yesterday. And I guess LSU has the edge as they had 5 players taken in the first round while Ohio State had 3 taken in the first round of the 2004 draft. Honestly until I saw the draft projections after the 2019/20...

Re: Coronavirus

32 out of 19. That IS something. A typo. 32 out of 51. 32 outside of the uncertainty intervals and 19 within them. Not good. But, as I said, if you look at in terms of anticipating the general magnitude on a State by State basis is was OK. Some exceptions like Alabama and Tennessee. Nationally it d...

Minor League football has come and gone so many times.
Ok... I know you guys will crush me for this...but the USFL actually had a good model and was doing pretty well until SOMEBODY made a bad move and attempted to take it to the fall to complete with the NFL and killed it.

Re: What will happen with the 2020 college football season?

I am wondering if McNeese can get away with not missing anything by virtue of having post season play eliminated for the 2020 season due to the APR thing. I am wondering if it'll end up where the 2020 college football season is cancelled anyway then McNeese can get eligible for the 2021 season.

Re: Coronavirus

No, I am not cherry picking data points. I looked at South Carolina because it appeared that South Carolina was under discussion. And I used the first run of the model because it reasonably would be considered to be the one most subject to error at this point. The April 1 run of the model did miss ...

Re: Coronavirus

I just don't get you guys thinking that IHME model is garbage. If you use the model even when they released the first output on March 25 the national projection was for a point estimate of 44,781 cases as of yesterday, April 21 with an uncertainty interval of 25,791 through 82,412. The actual CDC d...

Re: Coronavirus

BTW the IHME model run of March 25 projected the US peak deaths number at 2,341 on April 14. I don't immediately see info on which day the CDC says had the highest death rate. However, according to the Worldometers site, the highest US death count was 2,804 and that was yesterday, April 21. The Apri...

And there's a question if this ever ends. Vaccines are not sure things and are rarely 100% effective, assuming we even get one. I've never heard of a vaccine that results in a 100% seroconversion rate. But this will be brought under control whether they get a highly effective vaccine or not. There ...

I wish that somehow it'd be possible to get people to understand uncertainty in statistics and modeling. Just heard Cuomo say all the models were wrong about deaths. Not true. Re: The Glue to NDSU's Defense Enters Transfer Portal

Cox has been a man among boys with NDSU. In ISU playoff game he was in the backfield, fell trying to tackle Robinson, the NFL bound RB. Got up and tackled him 15 yards later. He didn't get a lot of stats, because many teams ran plays away from him. If he had gone to the draft this year, draftsite h...
