Re: Political memes, Posters, Funny Pics, Etc.

A discussion broke out last night on Twitter over the future of the Republican Party...and it was argued that the future leadership is a battle between two GOP governors (DeSantis of Florida and Hogan of Maryland)... Some interesting tweets, but this one caught my eye...  https://twitte...

Re: Thank you coal!

The Gubmint has shown a propensity to bail out large businesses like GM or the airlines after they've made poor choices. Despite Kalm's fishing attempt, I'm pretty sure you're just as opposed to those bailouts as you would be for people who took chances with their electrical provider. I already hav...

He chose to go with Griddy instead of the local provider...a local provider that charges a little more on the daily basis, but provides stability over the long run... What needs fixing...his ability to make choices, or the system that allows him to make choices and have the positives, and negatives...

Re: Thank you coal!

AZ and Colonel...this is gonna get fixed, right? As the Texas power grid collapsed under a historic winter storm, Jose Del Rio of Haltom City, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, saw the electricity bill on a vacant two-bedroom home he is trying to sell slowly creep up over the past two weeks. Typically...

Not sure what you’re attempting to prove here, Gil...the last weather event like this was 32 years ago.....3x a century would be considered a statistical outlier, I would think. Those are record lows, below is a list of low temps in Dallas, back to 1980. A lot of temps in the teens, or don't you ne...

Re: Thank you coal!

Come on Gill...it is an extreme weather event in Texas...you had to go back 89 years to find the extreme...in fact, you have to go back 70 years to find similar weather like we have just gone through... We might have a difference of opinion on extreme. Abilene -7 / 1985 Amarillo -14 / 1951 Austin -...

Re: Thank you coal!

Please explain why we need to increase taxes to fix this problem? Power plants of all types have been built by private firms, not the government...some, subsidized by governments (especially solar and wind)... You could also cut spending but similar to utilities, people have an expectation for some...

Re: Thank you coal!

I worked for a power company for a few years. They had no problems with maintaining their nuclear or coal power plants. The NRC is on your ass about everything. A paper in the wrong folder was a huge fine. I work for the VP in charge of construction and procurement. The only issue I could see is th...

Re: Thank you coal!

No it is not. This is just poor planning from the energy providers specifying the wind turbines, and frankly I see this often in my industry with Southern clients: "Oh how many times will I really need freeze-protection, no need to pay the extra cost." Ok maybe makes sense for a tiny HVAC...

Power and natural gas markets going absolutely crazy yesterday, today, and expected through Tuesday due to the extreme cold in flyover country.
