Watch out for flying ice skates. A Canadien's player slipped on the ice and his skate cut Boylchuck on the eye lid. Apparently needed 90 stitches (not sure how you can get that many stitches in your eyelid) but apparently no vision loss so very lucky overall.

Re: D.C. Statehood Bill
:thumb: You could also combine RI and CT, or VT and NH. That would be tougher because of more diverse politics.....and it would fuck up the 50 state thing. Yeah but if you combine the Dakotas you are taking away 2 R senators and adding 2 D senators with DC. That's never going to go through if...

Re: Impeach Trump!
We need to ban closed primaries and have every state hold their primary on the same day before we even talk about tweaking the EC. If you don't like Trump, talk about the system that led to his nomination instead of just taking on faith that we won't get another Trump as long as the winner of the p...

That's not good. This year, try to adjust your withholdings so that you get the money during the year so you don't loan it to the government.mainejeff2 wrote:We'll be getting gobs of money back on our 2019 taxes. Thank-you Donald J!

Yeah. And since Clemens and Bonds didn't get much of an improvement this year and only have 2 years left, they likely are out until Veterans Committee votes them in eventually I have to believe.GannonFan wrote:Schilling should be a lock for next year now.

"Steps down" as the Mets manager after reports that he was heavily involved in the Astros cheating as a player
At least he can say that he is undefeated as a manager.

Re: 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame Voting
With another 20 votes (155) 37.6% of total, Jeter still at 100%, Walker and Schilling staying strong at 80%+ but Bonds and Clemens are now both below the line at 74.8% and 73.5%. Will be interesting to see if they even stay above 70% at this point. As said before, with nobody of interest next year, ...

Nope. At your own 30 up by 17 early in the 2nd I would call it a stupid decision even if they didn't make it. Thought it when I saw the play developing before the tackle.89Hen wrote:Only because they didn't make it.tribe_pride wrote:

Re: NFL 2019 Season
Chiefs roared back from 24-0 hole to lead 34-24 in 3Q. Houston D looks gassed. I think a big reason for the comeback is the Chiefs stopped making stupid mistakes. Blocked punt, dropped kick, dropped passes. All led to short fields or points for Houston. Once KC played like we know they can the Texa...

Re: 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame Voting
With an additional 22 ballots over original posters, Schilling gained in % while Bonds and Clemens dropped so that Bonds is on the cusp and Clemens is out. Think both will wind up out this year but in next year. Very weak 1st timers on the ballot next year. Would be interesting to see a Bonds/Clemen...

I think a big question is what will their penalty be for the videos. If they lose money from the salary cap, that could hinder their chance to sign some help for Brady.

BIg East Conference record overall 22-1 with the only loss coming from Creighton. Another fast start for the conference. We will see if the post season goes as well. Re: 2020 Republican Primary Thread
You get that it is not unusual for either a Dem or Republican incumbent to get all or all but 1-20 votes, rights? This is not a D or an R thing. It's an incumbent thing at least in the modern era. What you say accurately describes the GOP convention of 2004 (George W. Bush) and the Democratic Conve...

Re: 2020 Republican Primary Thread
I think the electoral landscape in terms of primaries and caucuses has shifted markedly since 1972, but are there parallels between the Nixon GOP convention of 1972 and the expected Trump convention of 2020? IIRC, in 1972, only one delegate vote (from New Mexico, of all places) went to a candidate ...

Yup. And those millionaires and billionaires have been vocal in their opposition towards Warren. At least from what I've read. Talk about having bad ideas. They don't seem to be so interested in attacking Sanders......I guess that old white men stick together no matter what their party affiliation....

And just to mess with things, Bloomberg may be coming in to the race. Has to upset Biden if true because he'll take Biden's voters more than Warren/Sanders voters.

Re: 2019 MLB World Series
I would bet that the Nats (unless down 3-0) are going with Scherzer, Strasburg, Corbin then Sanchez. Sanchez has been strong giving up only 1 run in 5 innings to Dodgers and shutout the Cardinals over 7 innings. Astros have more of a who knows after the first 3 guys and could do what they did in Ga...
