Re: Change in the geographic base of the CAA
It's only a joke because you guys are terrible at it. Yeah right, nobody in the land of the Red Sox and Yankees is interested in playing baseball. There's just that little problem where you cheats pushed the schedule so early that the Red Sox haven't even started spring training while we're suppose...

Re: Change in the geographic base of the CAA
ESPN televises softball weekly too, doesn't mean anything. College baseball is a joke in the north. Our most minor women's sport gets better attendance than baseball, whereas ice hockey gets numbers similar to men's basketball or better at most places it's played.

Re: UMASS goes to the MAC...
How is a conference with toledo and kent state better for them than the one with New Hampshire and Old Dominion? I don't fully see the value I don't know why people keep bringing up the names of random MAC opponents like that's supposed to be a terrible slate of games. Compared to our customary sch...

Re: ODU's first CAA football victim
Love the UMass talk. Please remind me, what's the best team that ODU has ever beaten? A 6-5 MEAC team? Yeah, they did a respectable job losing their #1 rivalry game to W&M. A team that UMass beat, you might recall. Our respectable loss was to Michigan. Even Towson beat the Big South champions. O...

It's not scorn, it's exasperation. If EMass fans don't travel when the games are held in Amherst, they will be lame, but one thing you won't hear from them is a sense of entitlement. Ultimately we're talking about 5 days a year, usually Saturdays, for the opportunity to be entertained in a state of ...

Re: UMASS goes to the MAC...
Massachusetts is different. And if our supposed "core fan base" really does consist of these people who bitch about traveling an entire 20 minutes to go to the once-a-year Springfield basketball game next to the Basketball Hall of Fame, we're screwed anyway. You can't run a successful NCAA...

Re: YSU to the CAA???
Anyways, YSU is an interesting prospect and I like the idea. If we can make the MVFC weaker while simultaneously strengthening the Colonial Athletic Association, then I'm down for it. YSU already has great support (or so I've read), and the "Ice Castle" is a nice FCS stadium. I think it's...

Re: UMASS goes to the MAC...
Always interesting how people end up floating back to the "exposure" argument when it comes to things like this. Sure, the MAC doesn't make really any money off of its ESPN contract, but people like to say it's worth it in terms of "exposure". Exactly what has the MAC gotten fro...

Re: UMASS goes to the MAC...
The TV money isn't that great. It will pay for 2 or 3 long distance road games. But that's 2 or 3 more flights paid for than we'd have in the CAA. And the exposure and production values of ESPN beat CSN-NE. That will pay dividends in less easily measured ways.

You have to announce you're moving by June 1 to start the two-year FBS transition process. Doing it June 2 delays it an additional year and you may as well wait until after the 2011 season is over.

Sep 17 - vs. New Haven (Division II) W&M fans are blaming Penn for sticking them with the D2 game. I find it hard to believe that an Ivy League team would be forced to back out of a game, given that they only schedule 10 games per season, non-conference games are irrelevant to their championship...

At first glance, the cat in Weber State's logo always looks to me like it's being sucked into an evil mirror. Like instead of leaping at me, it looks like it's reaching out for something to cling to. Anyone else get the intended sense of motion wrong, or is that just me? http://w7.campusexplorer.com...

Re: UNC Charlotte will have football
I don't see Maine or UNH voting for Charlotte either unless a Northern program is added as well. There's one circumstance under which it would make perfect sense for Maine and UNH to support adding Charlotte, and that's if it gets the CAA back to 12 members and North-South divisions. If the CAA is ...

I love the fact that a quick little salute gets you a 15 yard penalty for drawing too much attention to yourself, but painting your field bright red is fine.
