Re: UPSET ALERT! GSU @ Navy
could the great defensive effort have something to do with GSU practicing against pretty much the same offense every day at practice (not to mention the GSU may have better athletes than Navy)? I didn't watch the game, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate I think you are on to something, YT. The TO is...

Re: WCU - Tusculum
51-14 in the 4th, now. This is embarrassing for the conference and for FCS. For every James Madison victory, there's a western defeat.

Tusculum?
Jesus, western. You can't beat a DII team? I don't give a shit if they are #5 or whatever, they are DII. Just do the SoCon a favor and drop football.

Re: September 11th Score Update Thread
Tusculum - 27
WCU - 0
4:10 2nd qtr
Tusculum has 223 yards total offense, 221 passing yards. Sounds like the Catamount secondary is a bit suspect.

Appalachian State - http://www.journalnow.com - http://www.journalnow.net/index.php/app_trail/ The first is the Winston-Salem Journal, which covers App pretty well. The second is a blog from that same paper, that will often have short blubs about App athletics that aren't included in the paper.

Thanks for putting the effort and time into this, Travis. It looks really good and makes it easy for those of us who are lazy to see who won and lost quickly.

Re: App vs. Chatty
If not for poor special teams play by Chatty, you guys lose today. And if a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumps. Or, if you prefer a more football-related analogy, if Michigan had betting special teams blocking in 2007, Corey Lynch wouldn't have blocked that FG. That's why you pl...

Re: App vs. Chatty
Sounds to me like it's anybody's conference to win. From what I heard on the radio it sounded like Appy won off of sloppy offensive and special teams play by Chatty, and not stellar offensive play by Appy. Maybe it was opening game jitters and they'll get it together. But if not, then based on toda...

I wasn't ready to write the Apps off at halftime, but was darn close. Whether you are an App fan, a Moc fan, or a football fan, this was one helluva game. Glad I got to watch it!

Re: What FCS schools are represented at your place of work?
There's hundreds of App grads where I work, I don't know the exact number. Just my team has: 4 App grads, 1 WCU grad, 1 ECU (non-FCS), I Francis Marion, and several unknowns. The other App grads are either not into sports or are fans of FBS schools. The WCU grad and I give each other a lot of grief,...

Re: Flyovers?
I don't recall ASU getting any military flyovers, although one can sometimes miss a jet after some robust tailgating. The closest bases I can thing of would be Seymour Johnson or Pope AFB on the other end of the state - I don't know if they station anything at Camp Lejeune, but it's also sev...

Re: Flyovers?
I remember the jets practicing for the flyover before the 2007 NC game. At first, the pilot just flew over a few times. Then, without warning, he divebombs the field and pulls up just a few hundred feet above the stadium, maybe 100 feet above the pressbox, and friggin guns it straight up. I was poin...

Re: The Next Great ASU QB????
After watching the final scrimmage tonight, I kinda feel for Jackson. He's no where close to Barnes. Hell, if we were opening up against some patsy like Western Carolina or Jacksonville, I'd start Barnes. As it stands, the smart money says start Presley against UTC and then see what the others can d...

Re: Summer Practice Question
Sometime in the mid 90's, Dexter Coakley took it upon himself to "encourage" all App players who possibly could be in Boone for the summer to do so. I don't know the exact numbers of how many stay in town currently, but I'd imagine that the number is near 100%.

Re: Griz to play Tennessee in 2011
I saw UT play Kentucky on Thanksgiving weekend in 2004 (damn it, App wasn't in the playoffs) in a bit of a rain storm. The atmosphere was pretty good, considering that UK isn't much of a rival and we were sitting in an area of the stadium where you couldn't hear the band too well, so we didn't have ...
