"The money I bring home can barely take care of my rent," said Alvin Major, 50, a Brooklyn KFC worker who was among about 200 sign-carrying protesters who blocked traffic in Brooklyn.

"We need a wage that could take care of our basic necessities," he said as protesters rallied outside a McDonald's restaurant.



Protester Douglass Hunter, 55, said he was working two jobs, including one at McDonald's, to support himself and his daughter. He said people were having to choose between buying food, paying rent and other bills.

Please show me the effort towards workplace advancement over the last 30 years.

I'm not an economists, but it seems to me that if wages increase, prices would have to increase. Also, as wages increase, benefits decrease/get cut. Also, you can get yourself "let go" by earning too much. It happens in my industry. People get raises and they get promoted out of a pay band and have trouble finding work.



Fast-food shouldn't be a career (unless you OWN the franchise.)
