The massive vote last November was more of a vote AGAINST Bush/Cheney/Reps than a vote FOR Dem's. They never figured that out. They figured just BEING there was good enough. Boy are they in for a rude awakening.MarkCCU wrote:Is that why the have got one of the historically low approval ratings? Is that why nothing has happened outsideo f the 90 days? Is that why thier lies are as plentiful as the screams for AlGore to be a Presidential candidate?
If you're gonna blow smoke up our asses, at least deliver something that will benefit us!

You are correct.....and this process will be accelerated if we go to government mandated healthcare.......don't think the government will outlaw lifestyle choices in the name of safety and lower costs when they are "footing the bill"? It's the same mentality that got me a ticket for no seatbelt on Christmas Eve......it's for our own good......Col Hogan wrote:America is quickly becoming a Nanny State. There's a great book that I'm reading right now called Nanny State: How Food Fascists, Teetotaling Do-Gooders, Priggish Moralists, and Other Boneheaded Bureaucrats Are Turning American into a Nation of Children. It cites examples, from both Liberal and conservative politicians, where they, in the name of "Saving" Americans are passing laws or implementing stupid policies, all in the name of protecting us...
C.S. Lewis wrote "Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive."...
Often, the arguement starts out with a statement like "Think of the children...we must protect the children..." How can you argue against that "logic"...
By then, the slippery slope has been well greased...Here's a quote from the book that just riles me...The director of tobacco prevention for Public Health-Seattle and King County told a reporter "Americans think they have a lot of rights they really don't have. Smoking is one of those things where people think they have the right to smoke. It's an addiction. It's something you should see a doctor about."...
Now, I'm an ex-smoker who enjoys the smoke free environment I work in...but to corrupt the Contitution and say Americans DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT to smoke is absurd...
Expect much more...transfats are the current target...Salt will soon be the next (in the name of lowering Americans Blood Pressure)...

Boy if that isn't a perfect logic train....scary as HELL too....Christ, EMPLOYERS are already trying to limit lifestyle choices for the same reasons....not hiring smokers, not hiring women in childbearing years, etc., etc.Appaholic wrote:You are correct.....and this process will be accelerated if we go to government mandated healthcare.......don't think the government will outlaw lifestyle choices in the name of safety and lower costs when they are "footing the bill"?
