This just in: There are only 10 Million...

Post by Cleets Part 2 »

This just in:
There are approximately 10,000,000 different Human Genome DNA varieties...
In a revolutionary study on nucleotide polymorphisms taking place at MIT it has been secretly revealed to me (over a 2 hour drunken phone call) that though God may have seen fit to have designed 3 million different species of Beetle... in his one species of Human he built in a design buffer with a limited variety of design possibilities... and 10 million seems to be that number

So when your wife or lover (or mom) said you're one-in-a-million... you are now safe to correct them and explain that you are actually one in 10 million

I am also relieved to share that this discovery (in no way) disproves my doctorate thesis that the missing Higgs Boson is actually the unobservable location of God in the microcosm singularity theory...

 although it introduces a dangerous crack.. (to be discussed later)
- Big 10 Football - So boring Wisconsin is our most exciting team...
- Big 10 Football - Where 117th ranked Purdue is dominant...
- Big 10 Football - Where team speed and passing offense are not required...

Are you sure about that, Cleets? If that's true, (if we assume the UN's estimate of the world populaiton of 6.6 billion is not overblown) then there is at least one group of at least 660 people who are all genetically identical .

Does this mean DNA testing in criminal trials is not as fool proof as previously thought?

Well the short answer is "Yes"
The long answer requires an explanation that shows how certain "critical areas" of differentiation are more limited than was originally believed...

As we all already know - even if you clone a sheep - the two clones are not identical in the purest sense of the term identical... they are "basically" identical (which requires another long answer)

anyway: Suffice to know... the guys who sleep/eat and drink Genome are staring to cringe a little... because it looks like in some really important areas genetically speaking - the multi-billion DNA command string has some repeating sequences built in

(More later) if anybody cares

I have the same problem. Looks like I'm going to have to open up a can of Highlander on my counterparts.

Whew! Your DNA Isn't Your Destiny
The more we learn about the human genome, the less DNA looks like destiny.

As scientists discover more about the "epigenome," a layer of biochemical reactions that turns genes on and off, they're finding that it plays a big part in health and heredity.

By mapping the epigenome and linking it with genomic and health information, scientists believe they can develop better ways to predict, diagnose and treat disease.

"A new world is opening up, one that is so much more complex than the genomic world," said Moshe Szyf, an epigeneticist at Canada's McGill University.

The epigenome can change according to an individual's environment, and is passed from generation to generation. It's part of the reason why "identical" twins can be so different, and it's also why not only the children but the grandchildren of women who suffered malnutrition during pregnancy are likely to weigh less at birth.

I've got a few really good buddies over at MIT who I've known for years and years... a bunch of very exciting projects are going on there right now - It's actually where I should have gone to finish my work

(Shh....) Keep that on the D.L.

Um... Wide-D.L.-Right
Didn't you change your direction and slide over into Nuclear Physics (as I suggested) because there are some seriously high paying gigs right now = http://www.ans.org/pi/edu/students/careers/ = I'm a long standing member of the American Nuclear Society... good times bro... it's a regular party
