The electoral college college was put in place by the founding fathers specifically to prevent large states from steamrolling small states in the presidential election. I'd say it worked perfectly as designed.JohnStOnge wrote:And without Texas alone Clinton would've won the popular vote by more and also won the electoral vote.cx500d wrote: I was wrong, without ca alone, trump would have wore popular vote. So i see your point, take out 13 states to make it a Hillary victory vice just the the one state ca to make it a trump popular vote victory instead of just an electoral college landslide.
You have a pathetic argument.
More of the People in the United States voted for Clinton than voted for Trump. They are all citizens of the United States.
It is what it is. We have the electoral college system. But I think the absurdity of the result we had this time is a good reason to question whether the electoral college system is a good system to have.
Look at Pennsylvania, for instance. 47.6% of the people in that State voted for Clinton. But their votes were rendered essentially meaningless by the electoral college system because even though the State was very close to evenly split all 20 of Pennsylvania's electoral votes went to the nut job.
BTW, Trump did not win an electoral college landslide. I posted something about that earlier but I'll go ahead and type it again: Trump's electoral college margin ranks 46th among 58 Presidential elections. He would've lost if ONE State (Texas) would've gone the other way.
The presidential race analogy is sort of like the World Series. The World Series is a best of 7 games. Each game is a unique match. It doesn't matter if the cubs wins game 1 by 20, game 2 by 30, and game 3 by 40, if the sox wins game 4 by 1, game 5 by 1 , game 6 by 1, and game 7 by 1. Each game is unique and counts as 1, there is no decision based on who scored the most runs overall. The presidential election is set up similarly. Each state election is the game, and the game winner gets the win proportioned per the congressional seat count. It's a tally of all the "games" or state contests, not who got the most votes in a couple populous states. If the founding fathers wanted a popular vote, they wouldn't have devised the system and improved it in the 12th amendment. Only one presidential race imo did a candidate have a legitimate complaint, Andrew Jackson in 1824. I don't really understand your 46 if 58 comment....so what? Reagan got 98% of the electoral college, but he didn't get close to that popular vote wise, so what's the point?

Trump is moving so fast the left is going to have to start using whiteboards for their protest signs to be able to keep up.
If fascism ever comes to America, it will come in the name of liberalism. Ronald Reagan, 1975.
