I sure hope that preventing the next slaughter of innocent civilians doesn't interfere with fighting Islamophobia and another Arianna Grande concert.

Listen, bub. When we get angry, the terrorists win. Bury your head in the sand and come up singing Kumbaya. Kalm will help you if you don't know the words. It's a pretty complicated bunch of lyrics.

Britain is lost. They think they still have a national identity but that was gone long ago. They are past the point where they can do anything to fix this. In a way, the mayor of London was correct - this is just something to be expected in a large city (with certain characteristics he left out.... full of near East Asian and middle eastern muslims). Going out to enjoy the city center will now carry a twinge of fear - gone are the days where you didn't have to carry the fear of being randomly selected for execution

The only reason we need to be cognizant of the situation in the U.K. and greater Europe is so we don't slide down into the gully with them.

I think we do a much better job of assimilating these folks and therefore the danger to us is lesser in any circumstance, but we need to recognize WHY we assimilate other cultures better than Europe (because the left would like for us to become just as dysfunctional)

The safety net. We shouldn't be extending it any further. The dole in the U.K. has such a ridiculously low bar that as soon as you arrive from North Africa or the Middle East you can go straight on it. You don't have to actually go out and adapt to the new culture in order to actually hold down a job. So you can immediately cloister yourself away in enclaves of your own people.

Culturally adaptive legal systems- I don't need to elaborate on this.

Job creation- we can argue all day about how this gets done, but if there is a sufficient job market, people stay off the dole AND they have to actually COEXIST - and that means adapting to the culture of where you live in order to stay gainfully employed.

I see your points, however, we actually can not do any better at attempting to bring in muslims than any other country?
They do not want to be a part of us ... they want to dominate us .. thru fear and terror ... it is what they are .. what they are willing to die for. ... imo

The problem is that the left is partially correct- the Muslims who will go berserk and kill people indiscriminately are not representative of the whole population. So we do have a large majority of Muslims who would never commit terrorist acts.

The problem is that there is no internal voice- no mechanism within the religion that condemns these acts in such a way as to make them inimical to the practice of the religion- not "sinful", if you will.

Worldwide polls of Muslims show a plurality of people who will tell you that things like apostasy or depictions of Mohammed, or other various forms of blasphemy should be punishable by death, even for non-Muslims. So it is no small wonder that Muslim terrorists operate with the kind of abandon they do- they have a global permission slip from the only authority they acknowledge

Unfortunately for us, we aren't going to base immigration policy on this fact. We are going to continue to be bullied by the left on this- in that there are innocent Muslims who are going to be adversely affected by any immigration rule that could actually be effective in keeping the bad apples out - it is racist to paint them all with the terrorist brush. This is true to an extent, but until mainstream Muslims and the "good" Imams start feeling some real discomfort over the acts that they will condone when asked about in a poll- nothing will change within the religion itself.

This is why I say we need to make sure we remain a moderating force when it comes to Muslims in America... we DO in fact incorporate them into our culture much better than Europe does. But if progressives get their way, they will become insular (just as is happening with other minority groups) and that is the recipe for what is happening in Britain today.

Those were many well thought out ideas you presented ... but of course, that is only an "assumption" that the "wackos"are a small percent of the islam population ... and it is a safe bet that the " majority" of the Imans are extremists.

If they actually EVER spoke out against the "wackos" , I would think some positive thoughts about them as people with a capacity for love.

I would not ever intentionally place the safety of people I love in the hands of an Islamist ... that is the litmus test.

When people use terrorism as a tactic it gets lots of news coverage though. Which of course is what they were hoping for when they did it.

Nothing can be done about the news coverage thing. It is what it is.

What on EARTH are you talking about? I've said for years that the problem in the United States isn't guns. Posted a number of various statistical summaries supporting that view. I guess you must interpret me saying the homicide rate in Western European countries like Britain and France is lower than that in the United States. That's just the truth. I don't get why the truth is "liberal" if that's what you're getting at.

I've argued for many years that we over emphasize the risk of terrorism. I was saying that even back when 9-11 happened. I think we over-reacted in term of internal security, canceling events, etc. I said at the time that our reaction to the event hurt us a lot more than the event did. And I think that's what people who employ terror as a tactic hope for. The risk of being killed or injured in a terrorist attack in country like Great Britain or the United States is extremely low. It made no sense in the United States in the aftermath of 9-11, for instance, to be worried about terrorism when you were getting into your car to drive to work in the morning. Getting into your car to drive to work represented a far greater risk than terrorism did at the time.

But the terrorism events make big news. They affect our behavior. And that's why the people who employ terror as a tactic hope to achieve.

I don't know if that's conservative, liberal, or whatever. I just consider it rationally assessing risk. We don't do that when it comes to what we call terrorism. We make it out to be a bigger risk in Western countries than it is.
