Lol at the libtard MSN media complaining that Trump condemned both sides. I've read that both sides used chemical irritants. One article claimed that the counter protectors were the 1st to use them. And all the videos I seen has shown a mass melee with people on both sides fighting. And you have racism on both sides. It takes 2 to tango. Trump is right to condem both sides.

If the alt-left stays on this path Washington will also be demonized as a slave owner in the near future.JohnStOnge wrote:I think that at the time people thought of the State they lived in as a nation unto itself. If Lee had accepted the offer to lead the Union army he would have been a traitor to the "nation" closest to him. He would have been a traitor to his family, etc. Then he was asked to lead an army to defend his home against an invading force.dbackjon wrote:Lol. Lee was no more a traitor than George Washington was. It's just that George Washington's side won the war he was fighting in so now he's a hero in the nation that resulted from it.

He's getting a lot of criticism for referring to "all sides" with respect to the violence today. The idea is that it was ALL the White Nationalists. They are solely responsible for the violence. And it does appear that a While Nationalist was probably responsible for the most egregious act (the car driving into the crowd).
But I saw the videos today. I think it is quite possible that the violence was initiated by the counter protesters.
Like this one:
I also saw videos with the counter protesters throwing things at the White Nationalists, etc. It's evident that the counter protesters were looking for confrontation at least as much as the White Nationalists were.
Here's the deal:
When a group with an unpopular view protests, leave them alone. If you want to stand around with signs and such, fine. But don't seek violent confrontation with them. Don't throw things at them. Don't try to block their way. Etc.
And if a politician is REALLY going to be objective and talk about what people should and should not do that politician is going to have to say some things about the counter protesters involved in this event too. They, or at least some of them, are not innocent.
None of this would have happened if they (1). Decided to leave statue alone and (2) counter protesters stayed home and let the protesters have their day. The alt left seems to be winning this war on history, just let the pro statue people have their moment.

Re: Charlottesville riots
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe said, in referring to the White Nationalists, "You came here today to hurt people."
I don't think that's true. I think if they'd have been left alone nobody would've been hurt. Yes, the White Nationalists clearly were prepared for trouble. But I think that's understandable. I think it was reasonable for them to anticipate that they would be confronted.
But they didn't go there "to hurt people." They went there to protest the removal of a statue and maybe make a statement. They were violently confronted and they violently responded.
Now, I'm sure they expected to be violently confronted and they bear some responsibility for doing what they did anyway. But it doesn't change the fact that the counter protesters were violent or excuse absolving the counter protesters of any responsibility for what happened.

It really IS the victim's fault that she was murdered! If everyone would just let the Nazis, KKK, and white supremacists in this country peacefully take over....everything would be fine! What could possibly go wrong with a bunch of young racist sexist homophobic white men running the show?

Rather than confront the past and learn from it these alt-lefties want to erase it. Their efforts to take down confederate memorials have something in common with the Taliban demolishing Buddha sculptures.

Lt. H. Jay Cullen and Trooper Berke M.M. Bates died in the helicopter crash during the demonstrations.
Great job, Terry McAuliffe, you stupid idiot. Instead of just using more police to separate protestors and counter-protestors, you declare a state of emergency and mobilize actual military personnel for political reasons. DIAF.
Where are the donks who were concerned about militarization of police during Ferguson (where there was actual property destruction)?

Lots of talk about the police, governor, and counter protestors in this thread.
Not much talk about the right wing nutjob that plowed his car into a group of counter protestors.
