It's a college campus...there are going to be drunk students. Obviously there are no rules to keep people from packing weapons while being intoxicated, and there have been no incidents. If a person is going to a bar to eat and socialize (you know there will be a DD in each group) I see no reason why they can't bring a gun in if the owner permits it.
That's the key. The first bar owner that has a fatal shooting in his bar after allowing concealed weapons is going to lose his bar in the resulting lawsuit.

If there were any bar owners dumb enough to allow guns in before that, then there certainly wouldn't be any after.

For people who are against it does it make any difference if you substitute "restaurant" for the word 'bar"?

In other words, I can see the arguement against in in establishments where the majority of sales is alcohol, ie a "bar" or "nightclub". But for "restaurants" where the majority of sales is food and only maybe have a small bar I don't have a problem with it.

Interesting point. Any place that serves alcohol? How many people get drunk at restaurants?

Would this lead to an increase in snooty French waiters being shot?

In my mind that does make a difference. I used to hear about drunken bar fights all the time. I can't recall a single drunken restaurant fight story from my past.
