If anyone needs health care it's you. You're an idiot if you'd rather pay a fine than have health care.

While I agree with your assessment that c-man NEEDS health care  ...I gotta agree with him that this is an unreal invasion into individual rights to FORCE someone to either take the government's health care or face a fine...

A fine indicates that some sort of crime, or wrong-doing, has been committed, what exactly is the crime to refusing socialist health care? Honest question for donks--how can you support this while arguing there is a "right to privacy" in the Constitution? How can abortion be legal because of a "right to privacy," but I can't refuse government forced health care?

Where is Dback to tell everyone how great this plan is?

it's really not that different from mandatory car insurance.

I still don't like it, and I think it will be stripped out in conference.

I don't know how I feel about this bill.

One the one hand, it does seem wrong that the government can force me to buy health care. However the government does force me to pay taxes, so it's as if the government has never demanded money from me in the past.

I suppose we could give people the option of signing a waiver (in lieu of paying a fine) stating that they decline health care insurance, and if they ever need health care they understand that they are on their own and will not ask the government for assistance. As a Christian I am not thrilled about this either, I don't like the idea of telling someone in need that they are one their own.

There is also the issue of children on the uninsured. Are we going to tell a child that he/she can get help because their parents are idiots and decline affordable health care?

I agree, except that I can choose not to drive if I feet that strongly against having insurance.

Boy just like the party this is supposed to be about freedom to put something like that in. It is too bad this is something the ALCU won't do something about.

Exactly...

If I live in a big city and don't own a car, I don't purchase auto insurance...

And just because it might get stripped out in conference doesn't mean it isn't the true intention of the Democrats...they want to control our lives is what it says to me... :twocents:
