The dude looks like the experience made him absolutely MISERABLE:

Yeah, you can take one look at that picture...which HE took... and tell it was a terrifying experience for him. A smug look like that is a dead giveaway that someone is REALLY upset and they're doing their best to disguise their TRUE feelings.

To me him taking that picture with that look on his face tells you he was pretty darned proud of himself at that point.

I'll give my guess at what happened. He liked it. He liked it a lot. At some point she lost interest. Then he got upset. Then he was emotionally distressed. And the idea is she used him and he wasn't mature enough to handle it. Yada yada yada.

Her big mistake was not doing it in one of the 39 States where the age of consent is 16 or 17. If she'd have been in Las Vegas it'd have been 16.

The big thing to me is that she'd be a hypocrite if she'd inflicted unwanted attention upon someone. I don't think that's what happened. I think the 17 year old male WANTED it and got it. Then for whatever reason he got upset at some point. But it wasn't the same kind of thing as the "me too" movement is bitching about.

Of course it's what the #MeToo movement is talking about. She was his boss - she was the director, she comes from film royalty (well, at least Italian film royalty) and she knew him and worked with him for several years, since something like age 12 or so. He was still an unknown and unproven actor who needed every break he could get to get into the business. I don't dismiss the idea that when they actually had sex he was closer to (but not over) the age of consent, and I don't dismiss the idea that he did it willingly, but neither of those things are pertinent. She was in a position of power over him and she used that power to turn the relationship to a sexual one. That couldn't be any more on target with what the #MeToo thing is about - using power for sex.

I think the question of whether he did it willingly is pertinent. I think he wanted it. To me that's very different than a situation in which some aspiring actress has NO interest in getting it on with Weinstein feels pressure to do so anyway.

I don't think she used power for sex. I think the guy would've wanted to have sex with her whether she had power or not.

How many actresses did Weinstein sleep with? Surely at least one did it willingly, and likely more. He slept with so many the odds are likely one didn't feel coerced. You're essentially saying that if a person is hot enough/attractive enough, they can never be truly guilty of using power to get sex because, well, they're hot. :coffee:

If any actress wanted to sleep with Weinstein I don't think there's any wrongdoing on his part in that instance. And, no, I'm not saying that hotness automatically exempts someone from accountability.

The important question, to me, is whether or not they coerced anyone into doing something they didn't want to do. And I don't think that Asia woman coerced that 17 year old into doing anything he didn't want to do.

Well, he said he was coerced. She was in a position of power over him, and with his testimony that puts her in a bad spot. It's why there are countless sexual harassment trainings in the business world today. Don't want to get thrown into this, don't sleep with the people that work for you, and certainly don't do it as a condition of employment now or in the future. But yes, you are implying quite strongly that hotness (in your view) makes coercion significantly less likely. Getting down to the legal definition of hotness will be quite a feat.

No. I don't even thing she is all that hot. But I also think that if he said he was coerced he is lying.

Doesn't matter if you think she is, just matter if he thought she was. So to just codify your argument, no man/boy ever can be truly coerced into having sex, sexual harassment can only be committed by a male towards someone else. :coffee:

JSO sure is trying to deflect from the crime of statutory rape in California.

You have one of the most vocal leaders of the #MeToo movement committing statutory rape, trying to hide it by buying it off, and then her famous boyfriend with the CNN show commits suicide.

That's fucking cool! Just enjoy it!!

It's an image from a single moment in time - there is no way that you can definitively say that he wasn't coerced from looking at that picture.
