The point is that there was no big popular movement for Trump. He was not a strong candidate in 2016. He just happened to be in place when the Democrats had a candidate that ended up with all the baggage Hillary had. And he's not going to be a strong candidate in 2020. It's just a question of what the Democrats can come up with. If they can come up with even a decent candidate he's going to get blown out.
