You disagree?

If the farmer stays home and collects UBI, where does food come from? Why should he/she work when others aren't? Does he/she get UBI plus their income from farming?

How does the government get money to distribute with no income tax revenue? If they just print it, how does inflation not go through the roof?

From each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs sounds great but doesn't work on a large scale in practice.

Meh. It’s just the old early 2010’s version of parasitic teat suckers argument. Most people want to work and create value. I’m neutral on UBI but I don’t know anyone who is arguing for people staying at home indefinitely collecting a check.

So where does the money come from? And don't say new taxes unless you can tell me how you're going to raise taxes enough to more than make up for the revenue that's been lost as people leave the workforce.

And it doesn't have to be anywhere near indefinite, 3-4 more months of this is going to make 2008 look like a hiccup.

Where did the money come from to fund the Iraq war? Hey, we were not only able to fund it but also cut taxes at the same time! It was a win! ;)

Haven’t most of our bailouts been turned back as profits to the tax payer going back to the Great Depression? Sure taxes for those who can afford them are part of the mix. But what about government backed WPA type projects that employ millions who will pay taxes back into the system...federal, state, and local?

How about cutting military spending?

According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report published in October 2007
if the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continued until 2017 they would cost taxpayers a total of $2.4 trillion

I didn't agree with the Iraq War and cutting taxes at the same time was foolish . The Iraq War lasted about 7 years and cost $2.4 trillion. The CARES Act will take care of individuals and companies for 2 months or so and cost $1.8 trillion. How many more CARES Acts will we need in 2020 alone if we don't loosen restrictions. How much will the amount required increase if more and more people are unemployed or businesses are on the brink of failing?

You're advocating for WPA type projects to replace jobs lost due to physical distancing and shelter-in-place requirements? Why not just allow these workers to go back to their regular jobs with physical distancing requirements?

Please cut military spending.

I'll make this short...
I don't care about UBI - my time has passed - it's up to this generation to decide
But there's plenty of money

we continue to prove that every single day
we sh!t trillions down our leg

we just have to decide 1) World Police 2) UBI for low income US citizens 3) Corporate tax loopholes

We can only have 2 of the 3 above
but we can have whichever two we want

what indication do you have that the money couldn't "come forever" ?
based on the capitalist idea that there is no theoretical limitation to wealth - Fox News tells me wealth is limitless
if that's true then help me with the math

:geek:
Someone eventually has to do something. Whether it's the person farming the food, or the person designing a new medicine, or the person putting together the parts to make a TV or phone or anything, that involves someone doing something other than just collecting money. In order to want to do that work, they want to be rewarded for doing those things. What incentive do they have to do that work? In a world where money is just given to everyone in equal measure, what is their motivation to do that work? What's their motivation for them to improve how that work is done? What's their motivation to do anything? You answer me that and how that would be sustainable over years/decades/a very long time and I'll go with it. Show me that math.
