AZ AG Declaration
The AZ Attorney General has just declared attending places of worship an "essential activity."
I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that some dumb liberal appeals that to the 9th Circuit, where it will get squashed. I hope I'm wrong about that, though. It'll certainly never happen in Cali, where a Commie dictator is running rampant, in love with the power COVID has given him....

Stupid. He's a right-wing ass-kisser. Why should churches be exempt? Most churches are doing on-line just fine.
Some of the bigger outbreaks are linked to churches.
But go ahead and see who is mightier - Darwin or God...

Discussed the 1st amendment last night with a Mormon friend. He feels his constitutional rights are being trampled and asked if he could join me at my church next Sunday for worship. I told him the Church of Reason and Nature is open seven days a week.
He actually took it well.

I think this is more of a legal question. Can/does an emergency order take effect over your Constitutional rights?

I'm of the "put all the rules in place now that we're going to have to follow in two months anyway and let's get on with it" crowd. Nothing magical is going to be different a month from now or two months from now or until a treatment or vaccine is developed so it's either wait the 12-18 months or forever for the vaccine or put in place the common sense measures (face masks, social distancing, limited capacity, temp checks, etc) and go ahead. No reason why church can't be done that way, so if they do those things then let them go to church.

Re: AZ AG Declaration
Like many, I think you're lumping ALL churches in together. There is a HUGE difference between a small church and a megachurch. I'm sure we can all see issues with a megachurch (usually defined as a congregation of a thousand or more) in a big city or a suburb and a small church out in the middle of nowhere. If you have a congregation of about 30 meeting in a sanctuary that is capable of seating more than 100 and proper social distancing is observed (the two-yard bit, spreading out in the sanctuary, and hand sanitizer in the foyer, you know, the whole nine), there is no rational reason why a congregation like that should be prohibited from meeting.

My little church was observing social distancing for years before Covid-19 hit. Our average attendance for the service we attend is about 40, in a sanctuary that seats around 150.

The judge in the Louisville case summed it up well, ""If beer is essential, so is church."

I thought beer was an essential element of the ritual at the Church of Polson Griz?
