What's going to be hilarious is watching those countries being forced to cutback on those significant bennies to fund their own military, and the inevitable protests that will follow.

So we have to raise the debt limit to pay for all the shit we did the last couple years?
I have to qualify for a loan before raising my own debt limit.
Shouldn't we just have a payment due at this point?

Reminder to Democrats: Bernie Sanders isn’t president
Manchin reflects voter concerns more than progressives do. Manchin’s views are hardly radical. He supports social-welfare priorities, such as a permanent expansion of the child tax credit—but wants an income cutoff. He’s willing to raise taxes on businesses and the wealthy, just not as much as progressives would. If new taxes raise more than $1.5 trillion in revenue during the next 10 years, he wants to use the surplus to pay down the $29 trillion national debt. These views align pretty closely with the moderate voters any Democratic presidential candidate needs to win in a general election. Progressives would spend and tax more, make government far bigger and worry less (or not at all) about debt and deficits.
JSO, please explain to me how this piece is wrong and the progressives are the true representatives of America. :coffee:

It's a legacy of the system we set up at the start of the last century. And since we don't really fix things in government that don't work well, we've carried this through to the present day. :ohno:

Which is certainly ironic for the Democratic party - they pretty much closed ranks when it looked like Bernie might have a chance to win the primaries and instead pushed Biden forward as a Manchurian candidate simply to make possible that they could win the White House.

A trillion-dollar platinum coin could be minted "within hours of the Treasury Secretary's decision to do so," Philip Diehl, former director of the United States Mint, tells Axios.

Exactly. It's why comparing economies and safety nets provided by the respective government(s) is like comparing apples and cumquats. Yet morons like trip and dback and houndie do it, do it again, then triple down and do it again.

I think Biden has gotten away from the talking points.

And don't get down on the Redhead...she's going to spin just like ever other press secretary. Name me one press secretary who didn't lie. I'll wait. Let's not forget Alternative Facts, the Bowling Green Massacre (advisor, not press secretary but still...)
This babe is in a league of her own: she lies, she knows she’s lying, the press knows she knows she’s lying, she evades questions, and she gets away with it. I’ve seen some pretty good press secretaries from both parties: Pierre Salinger, Ron Nessen, DeeDee Myers, Tony Snow. They all protect their bosses, but they have to provide sufficient accurate information to generate credibility with the press corps. Psaki flunks on all counts.
Ok. I saw the stuff about Psaki lying earlier and decided to wait to comment until I could look at this thread more. I've done various searches. i am not seeing actual evidence that she lied. Can those of you who say she lied please re-post the evidence you have for sayig so?

And I can't believe some of you are comparing Psaki to McEnany. Psaki is a professional. McEnany was a complete joke. She made no serious effort to answer questions at all. She was a complete demagogue who spent all of her time attacking the press.

There’s only one thing Psaki is a professional at.

And that’s lying with a straight face.

But you’re right about one thing. McEnany OWNED the press, and they fucking knew it. She was THE most prepared press secretary in my lifetime.

So you don’t see deterring China as a thing?

I’d be fine with going back to 1910 in terms of our military strength if you proggies could guarantee that China and Russia are planning on standing down once they take Taiwan (tank the dollar) and overrun Ukraine (dry up hookers in Prague)

Im pretty sure you don’t know what you are doing

Can we spend $5 less and still deter China and Russia, Lindsey?

If we are in spending trouble, everything should at least be discussed…including your sacred cows. :coffee:
I have no sacred cows.

I see what Russia and China are up to every day. There is plenty of wasteful defense spending just like in every other sector. And I could cut a bunch of it, and fine-focus a bunch more. But we are behind China in some key areas and we are getting ready to find out (in our lifetimes) what the world looks like to people in less traditionally secure countries - when there is no deterrent.

I don't see what the problem is. Personally I am thinking about working my way into Government contracting and as soon as a I find a half native, half black, ex-military woman to front the business I am going to need 3 mailboxes to keep track of all the dough coming in.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Might as well take all a person can get and then just split. :coffee:

Why find a front when you can just self-identify as a half native, half-black, female veteran?

If that was an option, I would go for it. Identity politics hasn't quite hit the Government forms yet.
