There's black people in this state?

Oops, stop the presses!
Though Helena had a black mayor before it was even incorporated, local historians say former Liberian refugee Wilmot Collins will be the first in the state since then.
Collins, 54, unseated Helena Mayor James Smith in Tuesday's city elections.
"For sure he is Helena's first 'official' black mayor and the first in Montana too!," Ellen Baumler, interpretive historian with the Montana Historical Society, told the Independent Record in an email. "However, when the city's bid for incorporation failed in 1874, incorporation opponents framed their own ticket and wrote in the name of E.W. Johnson for mayor. The ticket won by a substantial majority and the election judges issued Johnson a commission certified by the city clerk."
The National Register of Historic Places nomination form for Helena's African-American Historic District says Edward W. Johnson, a black barber originally from Washington, D.C., became Helena's first mayor in 1874.
According to William Campbell's "From the Quarries of Last Chance Gulch," Baumler said, Johnson was known as Mayor Johnson from then on and displayed the certificate in his barber shop for years.
In Nov 2009, less than 10 months after Obama took office:
-In NJ, a deep blue state, Conks won the governorship, which was huge.
-In VA, a purple state, Conks won the governorship, Lt Gov, Attny Gen, and gained steats in the VA House.
In In Nov 2017, less than 10 months after Trump took office:
-In NJ, a deep blue state, Donks won the governorship- nothing to see there.
-In VA, now a blue state, Donks won the governorship (with a donk replacing another donk), Lt Gov, Attny Gen, and gained seats in the VA House, the polar opposite of what happened in 2009. The most newsworthy thing about this is that it confirms VA is a blue state (mainly due to NOVAstan).
In VA donks have won:
-the last 3 POTUS elections
-4 of the last 5 gubernatorial elections (VA donk Gov is one of only 16 donk governors)
-both US senators are donk- the only states that have this are blue states.
-Lt gov is donk
-Attny Gen is donk
VA House of Delegates looks like will literally be 50/50 conk/donk, which means of 99 state legislative bodies, it will go from 69 conk/29 donk/1 tie, to 68 conk/29 donk/2 ties. The only states where donks control a legislative body (or tied in one) are blue states.
VA Senate is 21-19 conk..
VA is not New England or left coast blue, but it is blue..

I think the most interesting result is the one DBack mentioned where the shemale beat the Religous Right conservative for the Virginia House seat. The incumbent had been in the seat since 1992. 25 years. 13 terms. He won re-election in 2015 by 12 percentage points.
I think it implies that the Democrat leaning voters were really chomping at the bit to turn out.

This is lost in today's tax reform bill, but a recount for the 94th district in Virginia was completed and the Democrat won by ONE vote, 11608 to 11607. This is huge as the House went from a GOP super majority to a 50-50 split...and ONE vote kept the GOP from holding both legislatures.
Democrats edged out Republicans by one vote in the Virginia House of Delegates on Tuesday after a rollercoaster recount flipped a red seat to blue and created a 50-50 tie between the two parties.
Democrat Shelly Simonds is the apparent winner in the race for the 94th District, beating incumbent Republican David Yancey.
She won, 11,608 to 11,607, according to the nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project.
This is the first time Republicans have not been in control of the Virginia House in nearly two decades.
A court has now declared a tie in a Virginia House election that one day earlier appeared to have gone to a Democrat by a single vote.
A three-judge panel certified the 94th District in Newport News as tied at 11,608 to 11,608 on Wednesday, a day after a dramatic recount appeared to give Democrat Shelly Simonds the victory over Del. David Yancey.
Yancey successfully challenged an uncounted ballot he said should have been included in his total.

Remember when during 2020, and everyone declared that Republicans would never win any critical election ever again? (cough JSO).

He's still convinced that his nirvana of single party, Democratic utopia, is just an election away. I don't think he's all there in the head anymore.

I did not declare that at all. What I said is that, over time, the demographic trend is in the Democrats' favor. And it is. You are going to have back and forths. You are going to have variations. But, inevitably, the Republican Party is doomed to obscurity unless is finds a way to actually win among non White groups. Nothing has changed in that regard. The country is going to become majority non White. Texas is already majority non White and Texas Republicans are already trying to address that through redistricting and voter suppression. But at some point it is going to be too much. The dam is going to break.
I have said before that it may not happen in my lifetime as I am pretty old right now. But the handwriting remains on the wall for Republicans.
