For me a receipt isn't going to magically make my vote secure but it would be nice to have a record of exactly what i voted on, especially in the local races where there is a large variation from year to year.

We have mail in here in Washington, and they give you a little tear off stub to check if your vote has been counted.
Unfortunately it doesn't tell you who, but with the technology today, they should be able to do what you ask for, by giving a record of how that ballot was tabulated.
