Hey, maybe after 4 years she'll have an answer to the question of what she would've done differently from Biden.

None of you will like hearing this but Dems need desperately to turn populist. Walz, Rho Khanna…someone along those lines, closer to a Bernie than a Gavin Newsome. Progressive populism, as Khanna calls it, from an economic standpoint is electable.

That’s a loser until they can either explain how socialism will work this time or completely hoodwink enough people like trump has.kalm wrote:None of you will like hearing this but Dems need desperately to turn populist. Agreed. That’s the challenge. But from a policy standpoint, it wins even in red states. See Missouri and other state’s passing of minimum wage increases. Or look at polling popularity on economic policies like paid family leave, bank regulations, and Medicare.UNI88 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:53 pmThat’s a loser until they can either explain how socialism will work this time or completely hoodwink enough people like trump has.kalm wrote:None of you will like hearing this but Dems need desperately to turn populist. As I’ve said countless times, we are a mixed economy just like every other advanced nation. Tax rates, who gets taxed, and what government pays for with those taxes are simply a matter of degree.
Bernie’s polling numbers against Trump in 2016 suggest it can be sold or overlooked by low information voters.

Educate people about the benefit of 401(k)s and IRAs rather than chipping away at them because mostly middle class and above use them. They are a tool to wealth that all can use.kalm wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 1:28 pmAgreed. That’s the challenge. But from a policy standpoint, it wins even in red states. That would help but wouldn’t big banking want it all completely privatized? What would that look like?UNI88 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 2:31 pmEducate people about the benefit of 401(k)s and IRAs rather than chipping away at them because mostly middle class and above use them. And wages would still need to go up astronomically to afford things like family leave and health insurance. Is there trade off that could be made with employers?
And why has everyone else gone the socialized route? At least with medicine, it’s more efficient and cheaper than a private system.

Socialized medicine is harder to do than it appears from the outside. Thats why only 32 of the planets 33 developed nations have it.
