You don’t negotiate with authoritarian aggressors. Much less compliment or encourage them.

The expense is a red herring. It’s cost us comparatively little in aid to seriously diminish Russia’s military capability.

Only Russian loving, democracy hating, sheep see otherwise.
Of course you negotiate, giving a little now can save American lives later. If Putin shows any hint of not honoring a treaty on the Ukraine then you crush Russia.

The red herring is we will inherit the financial burden of the entire Ukraine population for the next century .. Puerto Krania

How many decades will it take to weaken Russia? The Ukraine will run out of men before that happens

Biden’s proxy war is crushing the Ukraine minus the handful who are profiting Big with your tax dollars

I’m all for fair negotiations. Just not a negotiation for UKR to surrender.

BTW, how have things been going for Russia lately?

Russian aggression leads to more bombing. This is a self defense situation for Ukraine. The west supports their democracy and autonomy as a nation.

If Russia ceases hostilities and goes home or at least ceases their bombing, Ukraine would do the same.
Why does the machine that backs Biden, want to escalate the war? Wouldn't you expect a huge Russian retaliation? Might even spark them to use Nukes.
Profits. :coffee:

So the entire MIC is just a bunch of establishment Dems and neo-cons. OK.

Do Trump supporters of Republicans not receive campaign donations from defense contractors?

Is Musk a defense contractor? He’s not profiting from war?

Who has been targeting civilians from the first day they invaded their neighbor?

Longer we wait the more it will cost, might as well have it out now. I don't think you're so out-of-touch that you seriously believe that Putin will stand down for any longer than it takes to rearm. Spend him into oblivion just like we did the Soviet Union.

He didn't spend $200,000,000 on the campaign without expecting an ROI. Leaving Sideshow Bob sucking hind tit while he assumed the VPship was a nice move though. About now JD is realizing that he was right about Trump the first time and how did he let himself get suckered into going from being a US senator to his present insignificantness.

The issue is Putin holds all the cards. Ukraine doesn't have much more left in them. In addition, Trump was the one who allowed nastier weapons than Obama into Ukraine. I think all of Trump's bluster is for domestic consumption and he'll actually have to negotiate with Putin. It's sad the neocons fucked the Ukrainians over for a dollar or two.

Like I said a few posts ago, no matter what happened in the election something was going to give on Ukraine. We didn't have a sustainable path going forward - we weren't going to be spending what we were spending into infinity. The reality is what it's been since we were unable to stop Putin from deciding to launch this invasion - Russia is going to keep some of the Ukraine - I wouldn't give them anything they don't already have (so Odessa and the rest of the Black Sea coastline stays with Ukraine). After that, everything need to be done to get Ukraine into NATO and to make the rest of the Ukraine off limits. We blew it when we let Russia take Crimea back in 2014 and we blew it by not being able to deter them from invading in 2022. At some point this has to stop and that can be done with however we end this conflict.
"We"? Who the fuck is "we". Democrat regimes blew it. They Obama/Nuland/Biden voters/supporters own this loss. This blood is on their hands.

And hard pass on letting Ukraine in NATO. Ukraine should be grateful that Trump won and they get to keep access to the Black Sea, otherwise they were on track to be a land locked rump state.

You probably believe the bullshit fairy tale that putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if trump hadn't gotten his ass kicked in 2020.

If "Obama/Nuland/Biden voters/supporters own this loss" and the "blood is on their hands" then the blood is on trump voters hands if he pulls the aid leaving the Ukrainian at russia's mercy.

A pardon isn't a confession or video proof so no, by the MAQA yahoo standard used to determine if trump is guilty of anything, hunter is not guilty.

Or are you arguing that everyone trump pardoned and will pardon is guilty and should be behind bars?

I think it's a valid point to consider if what happened in Ukraine would've happened if Trump was still in office. Clearly Putin could've pulled the trigger on a full scale invasion earlier, and during Trump's first term, if he wanted, but he didn't. You have to wonder if what happened in Afghanistan and the way that we scampered out of there played a part in Putin assessing what Biden would and wouldn't do if he invaded Ukraine. Would the same things have transpired under Trump? Hard to tell. But it's certainly worth considering.

Neither does the Russian economy - and the resultant brain drain which will slow their recovery bigly. Without his catamite back in the White House Putin would have been looking at the end of his dreams
