Carville is right in this instance on skipping Rogan. It’s not as if Joe challenges his guests.
Well, Carville was the guy who penned the "It's the economy, stupid" mantra that the Harris campaign never really addressed in this election, leading to their defeat. Listening to old school Carville in this case would've been helpful. He's not 100% right all the time, but he has a track record of success.kalm wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 9:47 amCarville is right in this instance on skipping Rogan. What Carville can’t admit is that his Clinton 3rd way/triangulation/DCCC Clinton strategy worked at times, it’s also precisely why Dems have lost the historical bedrock of their support - the working class.
As long as establishment Dems remain in control, the Party’s electoral success will be inconsistent and fleeting.
FDR style progressivism controlled congress for 50 years by ensuring the economic stability of and growing the middle class.

None of that, even if true, changes what I said. FDR style progressivism controlled congress for 50 years by ensuring the economic stability of and growing the middle class.
And as for controlling Congress for 50 years and that by somehow going more progressive could return to that, that ignores the reason for why Congress could be controlled like that for so long - entrenched party politics and machines that controlled elections at the state level for much of that time (again, re-read LBJ's biography and the blatant vote rigging that occurred in Texas back as recently as the 1940's for instance, as well as re-read Truman's biography and how he was the product of the Pendergast machine in Missouri politics). Congressional elections, along with even more entrenched gerrymandering than we have today, were decidedly less democratic (little d) than what we have today after numerous election and voting reforms. The people decide elections now, not back room power brokers. People tend to be more fickle in their voting, hence why we won't likely see such an extended hold on power again any time soon.
You'd be smarter today if you had.

They don't get Trump's appeal is marketing himself as anti-establishment and being hated by the political class. Meanwhile, Kamala gets photo apps with establishment GOP.
It's like she picked strategists who have been asleep since 2004.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... elosi.htmlHow vengeful Jill Biden is urging 'depressed' Joe to 'burn the whole thing down' in their final days... with Obama, Kamala and Pelosi at the top of her 'naughty list'
….Biden infuriated many senior members of the Democratic Party with his shocking U-turn and pardon of his son Hunter a fortnight ago, after months of publicly vowing he wouldn't make such a move…..
….Now, sources say, the first lady has been egging her husband on to further inflame fury among his colleagues.
'Jill views Democrats on Capitol Hill, the [wider] party, the Obamas, staff inside and outside the White House, the media, and all of Washington DC with such misguided resentment that I can't imagine she [isn't] encouraging [Joe] to burn the whole thing down, despite his better judgment,' an insider said.
A particular target for the First Couple is said to be former house speaker Nancy Pelosi, who led the effort to push Biden out of the 2024 election race – personally calling him and demanding he quit in the hours before he withdrew on June 21.
The pair had been friends for some 50 years, but a wounded Biden has since been giving her the silent treatment. Any repair in relations is thought to be unlikely…
….One Democratic mega-donor, Floridian attorney John Morgan, is now wondering aloud whether Biden deliberately forced Kamala Harris onto the ticket – throwing his endorsement behind her within minutes of pulling out – to spite Pelosi and Barack Obama, who had also worked behind the scenes to push Biden out, and who both held serious reservations about Harris's capabilities.
'[Biden] basically had the palace coup from all directions, from George Clooney to Pelosi. I think he got pissed off [and] said, "F*** you", and gave us Harris,' said Morgan, who has known Biden for decades and attended a 'thank you' dinner for donors at the White House last month.
'Pelosi had told her delegation that there would be a convention and a nominating process. And Barack Obama did not endorse [Harris] for five days,' Morgan pointed out.
Whether Biden's endorsement of Harris was for honest reasons or not – one thing that is now certain is that the president has been giving his VP the cold shoulder after her resounding loss to Donald Trump last month, who beat her both in the popular vote and the electoral college.
Some officials told the Daily Mail that Biden genuinely believed Harris could defeat Trump and is struggling to understand how she blew the race – and a billion dollars in campaign contributions – so spectacularly.
Of course, some in the Democratic Party blame Biden himself – arguing he should have dropped out of the race far sooner than he did, and that more time would have benefited Harris's campaign.
'It's almost Shakespearean that Biden didn't just kill his own campaign, he killed hers, too,' a Harris campaign adviser rather dramatically told the Washington Post on Monday….
….In fact, at a White House women's health conference held last week, Jill Biden was widely interpreted as openly mocking Harris's campaign.
'We all need to 'feel joy' now. During this time of the season, just during this time,' she told an audience in the East Room. They burst out laughing.
'You're all reading into that,' she responded. Harris had made 'joy' a central premise of her campaign.
Party donor John Morgan believes the Bidens were lied to about the state of Harris's campaign. In the week leading up to the election, campaign staff were briefing donors and the press that their internal polling showed Harris well ahead of Trump. They said she could win all seven battleground states. In the end, she won none.
'They were lying to us, and I think they were lying to the president,' Morgan told the Mail…..

Even voters who previously backed Democrats cast the party as weak and overly focused on diversity and elites.
Democrats conducting post-mortems on their sweeping losses in 2024 are finding more reason for alarm. And the problem isn’t just Kamala Harris or Joe Biden.
In a trio of focus groups, even voters who previously backed Democrats cast the party as weak and overly focused on diversity and elites, according to research by the progressive group Navigator Research….
……The focus group research, shared first with POLITICO, represents the latest troubling pulse check for a party still sorting through the wreckage of its November losses and looking for a path to rebuild. Without a clear party leader and with losses across nearly every demographic in November, Democrats are walking into a second Trump presidency without a unified strategy to improve their electoral prospects. And while some Democrats blame Biden, others blame inflation and still others blame “losing hold of culture,” the feedback from the focus groups found Democrats’ problems are even more widespread and potentially long-lasting than a single election cycle.
The focus groups offer “a pretty scathing rebuke” of the Democratic Party brand, said Rachael Russell, director of polling and analytics at Navigator Research, a project within the Hub Project, which is a Democratic nonprofit group.
“This weakness they see, [Democrats] not getting things done, not being able to actually fight for people — is something that needs to be figured out,” Russell said. “It might not be the message, it might be the policy. It might be something a little bit deeper that has to be addressed by the party.”
The focus groups — held immediately after the 2024 election and conducted by GBAO, a Democratic polling firm — featured three kinds of voters: young men in battleground states who voted for Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2024; voters in battleground states who voted for Biden in 2020 but didn’t vote at all in 2024; and voters in blue states who had previously voted for Democrats, a third party candidate or didn’t vote in 2020 but voted for Trump in 2024……..

Agreed and it’s a huge branding problem especially in a short cycle. Infrastructure spending takes time to realize the benefits. And many are indirect in an economy as large as ours. And it’s not as if the R’s have any sort of track record on getting stuff done other than tax cuts on the wealthy and corporations.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 9:54 amhttps://www.politico.com/news/2024/12/2 ... p-00195806New research shows the massive hole Dems are in

Outlets like Politico or the NYT rarely offer critiques of either party when it comes to economic outcomes for the middle class. And why would they?
Remember…the Dem establishment hates progressives more than they hate R’s. Yet progressive economics remains the path for Dems to recover down. I’m not holding my breath.
