Financial reps tried to talk me out of it. They're right you can't time the market. I don't think I would have done it if I were younger and had time to bounce back from any losses. It came down to best and worst case scenarios (a 5-10% gain vs market meltdown) and was I willing to risk the second in hopes of the first. At my age, the answer was no.

Point #1: I would have to see actual numbers for what is being spent for 2025, what would be spent 2026 and following years under the conk proposal. When you see in the MSM claims of “Republicans are calling for insert your amount of $$$ here in cuts for insert your government program or agency here “ it’s usually over a 10 year timeframe so it sounds much bigger, and it’s usually not an actual ‘cut‘, but a slowdown in rate of growth. Unless an agency or programs funding actually decreases from one year to the next, there is no cut. Of course with lib/democrat math, any slowdown in the rate of growth is a cut.

Point #2 there is HUGE fraud in Medicare and Medicaid payments. Now the official govt #s may say only 5-6% or whatever. Here’s a 2023 non DOGE/non right leaning source that points this out. Just quoted small part of longer read how one of the fraudsters described ripping off Medicaid as easy ..
