Talked to my guy this morning. We knew this was coming and have discussed it for a year. Some of it being the inevitable reset, some of it worsened by momentum traders and computerized trading, and much of it, a big giant heaping spoonful of Trump.

That's why I liquidated 95% of my retirement portfolio. I've actually made a little money since January 20.

Financial reps tried to talk me out of it. They're right you can't time the market. I don't think I would have done it if I were younger and had time to bounce back from any losses. It came down to best and worst case scenarios (a 5-10% gain vs market meltdown) and was I willing to risk the second in hopes of the first. At my age, the answer was no.

I'm going to buy back in when I feel the markets hit close to bottom. I'll focus more on income/dividend funds and less on growth then I did before.

Trump's Former Lawyer Names 'The Thing That Sinks Trump's Presidency'
“Here’s where the story takes a turn: Trump will soon learn that his support isn’t infinite,” Cohen wrote. “His base might be rabid, but even the most die-hard MAGA voter has a breaking point. And when grandma’s Social Security check disappears, when their Medicaid is yanked away, when the reality of Musk’s economic war on the poor sets in; who do you think they’re going to blame?

You screw over 72.5 million people, and you pay the price,” Cohen continued, referring to the number of Americans on Medicaid. “Unfortunately, they will suffer. But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel…Musk’s economic jihad against working Americans will be the thing that sinks Trump’s presidency and the Republican party. And for once, the chaos will actually work in the favor of the American people.”

The disgraced, disbarred Michael Cohen who committed perjury in order to try to ‘Get Trump‘ doesn‘t have something nice to say about Trump. I‘m shocked…

Point #1: I would have to see actual numbers for what is being spent for 2025, what would be spent 2026 and following years under the conk proposal. When you see in the MSM claims of “Republicans are calling for insert your amount of $$$ here in cuts for insert your government program or agency here “ it’s usually over a 10 year timeframe so it sounds much bigger, and it’s usually not an actual ‘cut‘, but a slowdown in rate of growth. Unless an agency or programs funding actually decreases from one year to the next, there is no cut. Of course with lib/democrat math, any slowdown in the rate of growth is a cut.

Point #2 there is HUGE fraud in Medicare and Medicaid payments. Now the official govt #s may say only 5-6% or whatever. Here’s a 2023 non DOGE/non right leaning source that points this out. Just quoted small part of longer read how one of the fraudsters described ripping off Medicaid as easy ..
Inside the mind of criminals: How to brazenly steal $100 billion from Medicare and Medicaid

…….That's just one of thousands of examples of how Medicare fraud is flourishing — not only in south Florida, but across the country.

Taxpayers are losing more than $100 billion a year to Medicare and Medicaid fraud, according to estimates from the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association.

"That's probably a conservative number," Pérez Aybar said. "When we think about all lines of business in Medicare and Medicaid, that's probably a drop in the bucket."

The fraud runs the gamut: billing for unapproved Covid tests, phony billing for wheelchairs, braces and other medical equipment, genetic testing fraud, home health-care billing and a host of other schemes. Investigators say fraudsters have gotten more brazen in recent years — as Washington swiftly doled out trillions of dollars in Covid-19 relief funds and other aid in response to the pandemic.

Have they asked Rick Scott about it? :)

Will they go after large healthcare providers some of which are now owned by hedge funds?

If so, that’s a good thing.
