Well, well, well.
Looks like that big fat binder the FBI raided Mar a Lago over is finally going to be declassified as Trump originally directed.
Seems I was right when I started this thread.

To be be fair, he didn't commit treason. What he actually did was:
*Willful retention of national defense information
*False statements and representations
*Conspiracy to obstruct justice
*Withholding a document or record
*Corruptly concealing a document or record
*Concealing a document in a federal investigation
*Scheme to conceal
*Altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing an object
*Corruptly altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing a document, record, or other object![]()

It's definitely debatable. I preferred to call January 6 sedition rather than insurrection or overthrow because the rioters were attempting to prevent the U.S. government from carrying out its lawful functions.bobbythekidd wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 7:16 pmI'm not sure i can agree with your assessment that the idiots that attempted to, at least, pause the function of our government, at best overthrow it, were traitors. That still doesn't make them enemies of the United States.
Below are listed lesser crimes that they can all be guilty of, but do not meet the level of traitor.
"Sedition (aka, Seditious Conspiracy) (18 U.S.C. § 2384): Defined as two or more people conspiring to "overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force" the U.S. government or prevent it from carrying out its lawful functions; OR to "seize, take, or possess by force" any property of the U.S. government. Several of the hundreds arrested after the Jan. 6 riot on the Capitol Building were charged with this crime.
*Rebellion or Insurrection (18 U.S.C. § 2383): Defined as two or more people rising in rebellion against the U.S. government or assisting others in rebelling.
*Advocating Overthrow of Government (18 U.S.C. § 2385): It is a federal crime to advocate, abet, advise, or teach the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing the government of the United States by force or violence, or to publish or circulate printed material advocating the overthrow of the government.
An enemy means "any country, government, group, or person that has been engaged in hostilities, whether or not lawfully authorized, with the United States". It can be argued that the January 6 riot was "hostilities" with the United States.

Executive Order 13526, signed by President Obama in 2009 and still in effect as of March 25, 2025, governs the classification and declassification of national security information. It explicitly allows the President to classify information but also implies declassification authority by vesting the President with ultimate control over the system. Section 3.1 states that declassification authority can be delegated to other officials, but it doesn't limit the President's inherent power to declassify at will.

Some yahoos seem to think all it takes is for the president to think s/he wants a document declassified and it poof it is. The fact that there might be a process to follow and that information might be redacted before a declassified document is released is way too complicated for some to understand.bobbythekidd wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 4:09 pmI never said the president can't wish for something to be declassified. You think documents pertaining to FBI malfeasance deserve to be protected? They are of such importance to keep redacted, the President doesn't have a choice.

You have been wrong so many times when it comes to anything to do with classification of confidential documents for years now. I'd suggest you just bow out now and not further your sully your tarnished reputation on this subject. Almost everything you post makes you look less knowledgeable and unhinged on this topic. You are crazy. You do not have that authority. There may be some items the President can't declassify and I agree with that, but to puff out your chest as an expert on this topic is hilarious. Just like Cid. Expert until not an expert.

Yes. We shall see. Trump already asked through the proper channels that the Crossfire Hurricane documents be declassified. He put in all the paperwork and the Biden administration subsequently squashed the effort and would not allow it to be brought up or answered.
To believe that Trump doesn't have the authority to declassify documents he already ordered to be declassified is the height of idiocy.
So, when they get declassified, I get to come back and gloat you all are idiots?

Debating things with you is like arguing with a drunken toddler. I've been mostly agreeing with you. The president has the ability to request almost anything be declassified. On this we agree.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 12:25 pmTo believe that Trump doesn't have the authority to declassify documents he already ordered to be declassified is the height of Idiocy
Where we seem to depart from agreeing is that there is a process that must be followed, after the president request something be declassified, before it is released to the public.
Never once have I said that the president doesn't have the ability to request for something to be declassified. Why you continue to assert that I have is beyond me. You're reading comprehension skills are below a fifth graders. Go back and find where I said otherwise.
I think we agree there's some topics that will never be declassified, mostly due to national defense, or nuclear secrets.
Your insistence that a president has unbound power is disturbing. Why you think that Trump can do anything he wants without any repercussion is scary. Without guardrails, the president is naturally a dictator.

Re: Trump's Secret Documents. The World awaits.
Go back to the beginning of this thread. I already posted all the "paperwork" and the timeline of this debacle. Trump went through the proper channels. The IC made one pass at redactions and then right before Trump left, another agency felt more redactions were required. Trump agreed. Biden then killed the effort. Trump followed all the rules he was supposed to follow, but yet, here you are saying Trump acted wrecklessly.bobbythekidd wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 7:03 pmDebating things with you is like arguing with a drunken toddler. Notice the part where I talk about Jon Solomon and he was supposed to get the redacted binder. I've been paying attention to this thing for five years now. I know a thing or two about it.
You going to be really embarrassed when the documents are released. Seeing the bullshit they tried to keep from the public.
