Global temperatures 'to decrease'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7329799.stm
By Roger Harrabin
BBC News environment analyst

La Nina caused some of the coldest temperatures in memory in China

Global temperatures will drop slightly this year as a result of the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific, UN meteorologists have said.

The World Meteorological Organization's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, told the BBC it was likely that La Nina would continue into the summer.

This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory...
But, just hang on...this is just an anomaly...we guarantee the end is coming...really!

And, the El Nina that climatologists were SURE was going to cause a continuation of the drought in the southwest instead gave us the wettest winter we've had in YEARS! Snowpack in Rockies is 225% of normal, all our reservoirs are full (hasn't happened in 15 years), and are expected to remain that way for months and months. Lake Powell is expected to rise 50 FEET when the snowmelt happens.

What it comes down to is what JSO has been saying for a LONG time....these climate "models" are a guess. Garbage in, garbage out.

I'm all for cleaner air and less pollution, I just don't think America needs to think the friggin' sky is falling to move in that direction.

Well, everybody that doesn't want to turn more of your earnings over to the Imperial Federal Government better start raising Hell now.

Fast-tracking climate policies

The globe is warming quickly. Congress is moving slowly

That's the idea behind a new study from a team of researchers at the University of Colorado law school, who worked full time for nearly six months on a project that could help the next U.S. president make sweeping climate-change policies -- fast. The new report probes the edges of executive orders and lays out the authority the next president could use to introduce global-warming policies without waiting for legislation to wind its way through the notoriously slow congressional machine.

"Given the extreme importance of climate change, this is a way for the next president to be able to take rapid action," said Kevin Doran, a researcher at CU's Center for Energy and Environmental Security.

Executive orders -- and other proclamations issued by the president with the weight of law -- derive their power from a murky constellation of legislation, vague constitutional mentions and a tangled body of precedent. In the past, executive ordershave been issued to deal with an expansive array of issues -- from George W. Bush's executive order last summer to ensure that stem-cell research proceeds in ethically responsible ways, to an order by William Howard Taft in 1913 reserving lands in Nevada for the use of the Paiute and Shoshone people.

Thanks for getting this topic going, Coastal. (...but before I go any further, where did you find the sig?...everytime i read one of your posts, it takes me forever to finish reading the whole thing. Who is that girl?...)

(I respectfully ask all CS members to PLEASE take the time to read this post. This issue is too important to ignore. I will post examples of how this will effect every American in coming days, based upon my own experience dealing with EPA regs in CA. Thanks-TM)

Today, in Washington, the main page of the GW liars/crooks/nanny state playbook involves a 'study' from 2005 that alleges a correlation between "Global Warming" and polar bear deaths (basically the claim that as the polar ice melts, the suburban bears will be forced to move to the city where a food shortage and higher density housing will result in bear deaths.). Armed with that weapon, The Liar Gore, Non-compos-mentis Nancy Pelosi, and UN's jurisdictional jihadist Jarroud, have drafted a 'gadget' play that scripts using the 'polar bear' study, along with the polar bear's 'endangered species' status, to then employ the EPA's unregulated authority to impose restrictions, fees, fines, penalties and assessments on state, regional, municipal, and special use govermental agencies, as well as private businesses and indeed, the public at large, to FORCE compliance with the Goristas environmental-extremist, "big brother knows best", Global wealth re-distribution plan.

There's only one thing stopping them...The polar bear IS NOT ON THE ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has not been in any rush to give polar bears endangered species designation. So...since late last year, the crook Pelosi has been on a jihad of her own, to pressure, threaten, intimidate, and ultimately force Fish and Wildlife Service officials as well as Secretary of the Interior Kempthorne to ignore their Endangered Species Act guidelines and add the polar bear, so she and her, lying, traitorous cohorts can begin the GW pillaging of America. Heres a couple of the pieces, linked courtesy of a pro-GW website...

Boxer Requests Hearing with Interior Secretary over Polar Bear Delays

http://www.hillheat.com/articles/2008/0 ... ear-delays

03/21/2008
On Thursday March 20, Sen. Boxer (D-Calif.), chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, sent a letter to Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne asking him “to appear before the Committee as soon as possible for an oversight hearing” on the “considerable delays in taking final action” over the Endangered Species Act listing of the polar bear.
Critics see the planned lease as colliding with protection of the polar bear, under consideration for listing as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.
Pilferer Pelosi had been rationalizing her zeal for adding the polar bear to the ESL on the argument it could be used for the alleged purpose of gaining an advantage to block the proposed lease of offshore Chukchi Sea gas reserves by the U.S. Minerals Management Services (LA Times op/ed by MMS director linked below) , i.e, use of Sierra Club tactics to block government land energy "lease" sales.

ENDANGERED SPECIES: Listing of Polar Bear Delayed

01/29/2008

Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA), Chairman of the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, and other Democratic officials introduced legislation on Jan. 17 to ensure that the decision regarding listing of the polar bears occurs before the Feb. 6 oil and gas lease sales. On the Senate side, Senate Environment and Public Works Chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and 11 other Senate Democrats sent a letter to Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne asking him to delay the Feb. 6 drilling rights sale.
Unfortunately for Pelosi and the Purloiners, on February 6, 2008, the sale of Chukchi Sea reserves was completed...

So, now, one has to ask, for what reason are the Dem Congressional Crooks continuing their pursuit to have the polar bears added to the ESL?

...The Truth:

'Endangered' Polar Bear Is Trotted Out As The Extremists' Latest Trojan Horse

02/25/2008
http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticle ... 2966924715

(please take the time to read this...)
With the federal government's decision on whether to list the polar bear under the Endangered Species Act expected at any moment, it seems appropriate to step back and assess what the larger consequences of a listing would be for the American people.

Most folks are at least vaguely in favor of protecting the polar bear.

They're willing to sacrifice, through increased regulation and taxes, to bring about that goal. But the public's eagerness to chip in isn't without limit, and few people realize the far-reaching ramifications of a polar bear listing.

The principal basis advanced for protecting the polar bear is that its ice habitat is melting away due to increases in global temperatures.

The environmental groups that are advocating the polar bear's listing contend the temperature increases are in part a function of man-made changes to the environment — most important, the addition of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.

Now, it's entirely possible that the Fish and Wildlife Service — the federal agency that will make the decision whether to protect the polar bear — will list the bear, but will not give the exact cause of the bear's loss of habitat.

Even if the service ducks the climate change issue, it's unquestionable the issue of global warming and man's role in it will be raised in follow-up litigation.

Section 10 of the Endangered Species Act lets private citizens sue anyone, including government agencies, for violating the act.

Hence, environmentalists would be able to sue the Environmental Protection Agency to make it issue regulations substantially restricting car emissions, on the theory that those emissions contribute to climate change and reduce the polar bear's habitat.

And how would a court adjudicate that kind of a lawsuit? Very simply: It would have to decide whether man-made greenhouse gases cause global warming.

Yes, that's right — what is perhaps the most contentious scientific issue of our time would be placed for decision before a few unelected federal judges, whose judgments would bind entire federal agencies and, through their own regulations, the American people.

That's a profoundly undemocratic result — and at odds with the Supreme Court's most recent statement on global warming, in last term's Massachusetts v. EPA.

Massachusetts had sued the EPA to force it to issue new regulations controlling auto emissions.

The high court ruled that Massachusetts could bring such a suit, but the court also cautioned that it has "neither the expertise nor the authority to evaluate . . . policy judgments." And it emphasized that it's EPA's judgment — not the judiciary's — that must matter primarily when it comes to the global warming debate...

So, while we sit around lamenting about the collapsing economic markets, foreclosures (just found out yesterday one of the properties adjoining my residence is in foreclosure), high gas prices, rising cost of living, and the projected impacts to the job market, our elected "representatives" (arguable) are plotting and acting to FVCK American business and the public IN THE AZZ!

In Stalin's Russia any dissenter from the Party Line was guilty. Innocence had to be proved. It's a standard tyrant's trick. During the reign of Oliver Cromwell in England, witchhunters did not have to prove that their victims were guilty. The accused witches had to prove their innocence.

That's what Al Gore has done to science: He and his friends have flipped innocence and guilt from normal science to Stalinist science

Putting the burden of proof on the doubters is a perversion of normal, healthy science. It's as if Jeremiah Wright demanded that all white folks must prove to him that they're not blue-eyed devils. If politically correct ideas are true by default, the Al Gores can prove anything.

How have Al Gore and the fraudsters pulled it off? It's really simple. They just flipped the burden of proof and put it on the "deniers" --- the skeptics, who don't believe the computer models. With the Left in control of the media, you can do it.

So now it's prove to me you're not a witch! Because there is no decisive evidence. There are 21 computer models that "prove" global warming over the next century. By the time 2050 rolls around, most of the modelers will be dead.
