Talk about "Wag The Dog"...I got a pdf copy of the draft Senate Democratic Conceptual Proposal for Immigration reform...

It's full of stuff that will cost us billions (where will that come from???)...but one line caught my eye...



I added the bold...have these folks not read the Constitution...because that line indicates to me that they think local and state governments today have the authority to enact "their own rules and penalties relating to immigration"...

I don't know how to put up a pdf file for everyone to read...it's 26 pages, so too big to copy and paste here...if you now how I can hang it for everyone to see, PM me...

.... I'd hope those governing us would at least have an idea of the core principles that this country is run on. Apparently not, per your bolded section. Plus, isn't there something else that says something about a supremacy clause somewhere?

Hey, I was just trying to be nice and give you a free lesson there Gramps. But, if you don't want it, no skin off my back.


On another thought: Is it sad that they don't know enough about the constitution to know that the Federal government controls foreign policy.... or is it also possible that it is sad that they need to put that in there because the States and Locals don't recognize that authority? I have a feeling I know how people here will respond to that, but just a thought/spin.

I have to imagine that is just a clarifying "political" statement to counter the sentiment that we've even seen here - "The Feds have given up their exclusive power by failing to enforce it."

At least I hope it is.
