Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans, major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.

Nothing is done quickly in government (unless it's a dictatorship or there's OVERWHELMING consensus).

It's being done. And all y'all can do is bitch about it not being done sooner. He could cure cancer and y'all would find something to bitch about.
There definitely wasn't overwhelming consensus to pass that abortion of a "health care" bill so quickly. Does that mean Obama is running the US government like a dictatorship? :?

Really? He can repeal the global gag rule and ram a $700 billion stimulus through congress in almost no time, but he can't repeal DADT?

In most units there are gays and everyone knows who they are. Generally, at the company and battalion levels, it isn't considered a big deal unless a gay soldier makes sexual advances toward a straight soldier. It has always been the CIC that has proactively sought to find gays in the military.

During my days at Ft. Carson in the late 80s, CID sent undercover investigators to gay clubs in Colorado Springs. One of these clubs had weekly transvestite shows. One of the regular performers (in Carmen Miranda costume) was a full Colonel who was stationed at Ft. Carson. He was arrested, court martialed and lost his rank and retirement benefits. He received a less than honorable discharge and had to spend a year at Leavenworth. Everyone who worked with him knew he was gay but didn't give a shit. It was only when CIC went after him that it became an issue.

Reread the sentence again, baldy.

The health care bill certainly didn't have overwhelming consensus... but, it wasn't passed quickly either...it took 14 or 15 months.

What was your point again? :coffee:

No shit, that's why the title of the thread says "committee." :ohno:

Sorry. I was not referring to you. I thought somebody right after you talked about how it finally passed Congress. Your headline was a lot better (and more accurate) than the one from the article you quoted. Good job.

Are you serious? The abortion that passed wasn't even a twinkle in Obama, Pelosi, and Reid's eye 14 or 15 months ago. The final reconciled bill had a shelf life of 3 days before it was voted on on a SUNDAY no less, and before the OMB had a chance to adjust its numbers.

Try again...

Better use up this whine quick. It won't be around much longer.
